Been lurking here for a while, currently have a 2001 986S and looking to add a 996TT. I am in Seattle and this would be a daily driver, about 5000 miles per year, not looking to track it.
I would appreciate any leads on west coast cars and/or advice. my requirements are:
Must be a coupe and 6 speed manual.
Exterior Color - will consider any color other than speed yellow and guards red (not looking for a ticket magnet )
Interior Color - must be either black or tan (for certain exterior colors)
Mileage - must be under 50,000 miles
Would love an X50, not super interested in PCCB
Mods - some mods are ok (tune, exhaust, etc), prefer stock, not interested in a heavily modified car.
Must have clean title and prefer a 1 or 2 owner car.
Maintenance - must have full maintenance records.
Would prefer a sunroof delete car but realize those are rare.
Have cash in hand and will do a PPI w/ independent shop.
This one doesn't meet all your requirements but it's close, take a look to see/drive one for comparison. In person helps decision and negotiation.
Also, for a daily, is there really much difference in 50-70k?
You may want to drive it more than 5k a year once you have one
A lot of maintenance/parts done recently can offset lower mileage if you'll be racking up miles anyhow.
Yes, I am very interested in a sub 50k miles now so it will still be considered "low" miles in 10 years after I put 50k on it . Don't like black wheels either. Price seems a little high for what it is. I expect to be able to find one closer to my requirements for that price or a little more.
Found this one in Victoria, BC fro $49k USD but it has hail damage on the carfax and no maintenance records. Also, got the DME report for it and the range 2 are great but the seller basically said that they ran it up to the redline multiple times since they acquired it so the Range 1 is today, kind of a turn off.

Not sure that 100k would ever be considered low miles unless it's in 2040, even then would be high in my book. I consider cars from the 60's with under 70k to be "low".
No records would be a No buy for me on any car that has known expensive maintenance cost.
I agree you should be able to find what you're looking for this time of year, remember that asking prices mean nothing until you talk with sellers enough to see if they actually have current market knowledge. Some may just be looking for an eager buyer. Car I looked at recently where guy wanted too much for his car because that's what he owed on it. I told him we could go to the bank and I'd pay off most of it if he really wanted out to buy a bigger house...should have made the offer in front of his wife
Too many mods plus the nature of those mods makes me believe it has been tracked, a lot. The exhaust tips and bumper don't line up quite right either so wonder what is going on there.
I'd check this one out... has aero kit lip and GT2 decklid, but those are very tasteful IMO... Im sure you could find someone willing to swap for OEM if those are a must..

This is the same car as the one listed in Portland. Also has a chipped rear tail light that they didn't bother to replace.
well of course you're looking at it harder than we are ;-)
Keep an eye on NorCal and SoCal (LA, OC, San Diego). I ended buying my car in San Diego. There's way more cars down there, period. And all are pretty much dry weather cars since it never rains in Southern California...
