What made you like the Gt3 shift kit over the Numeric? I've been looking at both and would really like to hear your input.
The ability to know it is properly adjusted with the included Porsche alignment tool. My experience with this car has proven a couple times that using Porsche parts (PMNA/Cup included) whenever possible is a good idea, they fit right and are proven. I also spent a lot of $ to have my transmission completely rebuilt with new gears, steel synchros, LSD, etc. and connecting anything to it I can't confirm adjustment of would be stupid.
My current set-up of GT-3 and Cup cables is awesome.
Had a stock shifter in my car when I bought it and paid the prev owner extra for the Numeric he had in a box. I installed it by confirming the stock shifter was properly adjusted then put the numeric in with the cables in the same positions. The car shifted closer but was notchy in the middle setting and the GT-3 is better by comparison.
The inability to properly adjust/align the cables rules out all of the aftermarket shifters for me also.
I tried out the shifter feel in 911mhawk's car and went with the 997.2 GT3 shifter with cup cables as well. Perfect fit and function. Porsche probably spent more money on R&D for the shifter alone than Numeric's entire annual revenue. No need to mess with something that works so well....
Cup shifter + Cup cables + Cup selector lever is nirvana. All OEM stuff. If using the stock Turbo selector lever (as 99% of guys are), you want to 997.2GT3 shifter as it has slightly shorter throws compared to the Cup shifter (which is no longer available anyway). Neither are the Cup cables actually. The Cup selector lever is a superb mod as it shortens throw 30% and gives you more direct feel due to the lack of the heavy counter weights of the TT lever.
Nothing against the numeric as it has a vocal fan club but I would personally go with the 997.2GT3 shifter any day. Any manufacturer that doesn't provide a proper centering tool with their shifter would be a non starter for me. That's just my preference as I hate most aftermarket shiat. I don't do bling, I just want stuff that's easy to set up and works without surprises. I've learned my lesson a 100X over when it comes to a better aftermarket mousetrap..
For a no BS bolt on, the 997TT SSK is a good option. Even shorter throw than the .2GT3 shifter but feels a bit plastickey..
Everyone has their preference. When you find what you like, stick with it.
