Arrow One more 996 Turbo article... "Retro Road Test"

Found this article earlier today. Pretty nice read, I don't think the writer is Porsche biased so it seems like a sort of fresh take on a first time drive in the car...

Full article---> https://www.motoringresearch.com/car...etro-road-test

Small quote from article, sums it up a bit:

"Maybe our view had been tainted by sniffy Porsche purists, who look down on the 996 as inferior to the earlier, air-cooled cars. Objectively, the exact opposite is true: few cars even today are so capable, so crushingly competent.

For some, that breadth of ability equates to dearth of character, at least when compared with the quirky 911s of old. Judge the 996 Turbo on its own merits, though – as a car to own and live with, as well as to drive – and little else comes close."

Nice article.

I was at a business dinner just last night in Denver, and not one but two of our customers had 991.1 Carerras. I wasn't going to bring up my 996 Turbo but my wingman mentioned it and both 991 guys were impressed. No, they didn't talk **** about my headlights. More like, "wow a 911 Turbo!"

I asked them lots of questions about their 991s (both PDKs) and suggested that they would really enjoy the benefits of turbocharging here in the Mile High City.

Yeah, I have been noticing the same. It seems the headlight "situation" is finally on it's last legs. Seems that by now, people just know that Turbos are the beasts of whatever era they are looking at. I honestly have had nothing but great comments on the car. Just the other day the girlfriend of one of my good friends was in town and saw my 6TT for the first time. Later that night my buddy and I spoke on the phone and he told me...by the way my girl freaked out when I told her your car was an '03, she thought it was brand new... LOL Thanks previous owner for taking such good care of her, oh and Meguiar's products!!!!!!

Good read. And I agree with others here too, people cannot believe mine is an 03 with 83k on her. I just love that pushed back in your seat feeling it gives under full boost. Mods have helped that but hey
