It could be that the new throttle body is defective. Those codes could mean:

♦ Open circuit in wiring
♦ Short circuit in wiring
♦ Throttle position sensor faulty
♦ DME control module faulty

Should just go to the 997 TB and IPD plenum imo.

There was a recent post on Rennlist about how someone was buying a Boxster throttle body for their Turbo because it was (paraphrasing) "identical but much cheaper..."

I don't remember which thread or who it was, but just want to rule out that the throttle bodies you purchased where in any way a different part number than the one called for in the PET system?

-----

OK, just found the thread,

https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...placement.html.

It was the OP! :-0.

Perhaps it's the wrong part? Rip-off or not, perhaps the calibrations are different on the part number specifically called out for the Turbo vs. the Boxster? Seems like the calibrations would be different....

Sonnen parts shows 997-605-115-01 to be the latest version of a 996 Turbo throttle body with a price of $330. Is that the part number you purchased?

I ordered an OEM direct replacement the turbo and boxster use the same part. The 997 part code is a 74mm Tb that is to big. So part is correct I am exchanging for another in hopes that new one was faulty.

Would the maf cause these symptoms?

Sonnen shows 997-605-115-01 as the replacement part for 996-605-115-01... And it's an OE part for $330. Sometimes third party sites get it wrong with part numbers, sometimes Porsche dealers online sites are also wrong. At any rate, it looks like the Bosch part you ordered is OEM vs. OE, and a part that you ordered has been deprecated.

A conversation with a trusted Porsche parts dealer might be in order?

Again, maybe your 100% correct in your part choice, but seeing as you deviated a bit from at least what I see as recommended, and are having error messages related to that exact part, it's worth verifying.

What I don’t understand is why the same part is almost $1000 more and they are both Bosch with same part number. If you look at what I ordered compared to this one I can’t see a diff.

I really don't know... Sometimes the price difference is between OE parts (Porsche box, Porsche part number) and OEM (the same manufacturer, but direct).

Sometimes an old deprecated version can actually be more expensive because inventory dwindles and triggers a price adjustment.

Sometimes parts catalogs and parts numbers from non-dealers are incorrect. I had that problem when I replaced the AC condensers on my turbo.

With a part like a throttle body, it certainly seems possible that it comes in multiple physically identical packages, same mm, externally identical, but with different calibrations. Should they be priced differently? Of course not, but that doesn't mean they aren't.

It very could be that you have the absolutely correct part, but if you are chasing problems, it seems like a phone conversation with the most knowledgable Porsche dealer parts person you can find would at least verify your assumption that you bought the correct part for your car and at least eliminate that as a variable.

997-605-115-01 is NOT the right part number as it is a 74mm TB Bosch part number 0-280-750-474
Turbo 68mm TB is 98660511501 Bosch part number 0-280-750-007

Other than not throwing codes, does your car run better/smoother at partial throttle than before? I am asking as my car has a jerky partial throttle thing that has been getting worse. i have been through all the other stuff, Boost leaks, Maf, Plugs/coils, MAP sensor, e-gas reset, t-Body clean. nothing seems to make a difference and it is slowly getting worse.

Just to be clear, you replace the new defective Boxster throttlebody unit with another new Boxster throttlebody?
