See,s like there are still a lot of affordable 996TTs available
..been looking for a while as many of you already know. Did loose a vey good one recently, but still finding many good values out there (price/MY/Milage). And with prime driving season passing in many areas. the supply seems to be exceeding demand. As I gain more knowledge, I am becoming more picky, but even at this, there remains food values out there. Opinions....c

Supply/demand. At the moment, there are a lot of 996TTs on the market for some reason. When I was looking 2 years ago, there were only a handful nationwide and I ended up buying from 2200 miles away.
I noticed the same pattern with GT2s - my lust object.
Maybe its an overall market easing, maybe seasonality. But supply definitely factors in.

People saw the values ticking up and are hoping to cash out. This put more cars on the market which is having an effect on prices.
Same thing happening with the air-cooled cars right now too.

Not sure what this means or if it means anything at all but I have been considering adding Bring a Trailer selling prices of 996 Turbos just to keep my thread going. There have been a few sold at BAT and they have sold pretty strongly
Here is my thread just in case:

Same thing as every other year - totally seasonal. Prices rise in the spring and summer, level off in the fall, stall over the winter, then repeat. Lots of folks don't want to store their cars again over the winter so more hit the market. In the spring we all get excited and want a sports car as we come out of hibernation. Nothing new, really.

It's like everybody thought their 911 turned to gold. The top cars are bringing more money than ever. Everything else is sitting. Also, it appears the 993s have dropped significantly - 10-15%.

I mostly watch the older air cooled car market but have recently ventured into 996tt land. I have felt that the air cooled market has cooled some and do not doubt that this is true for the overall collector car market. I don't watch the auctions so maybe somebody that does has more informed comment on the overall market.
I do think that the 996tt and even base 996/997 cars will, in the long run, be sought as more cars go to new, more fuel efficient configurations. Kind of the last of the king of the dinosaures (and this from a die hard performance car enthusiast).

All good observations...thanks. Seasonal trends, markets cooling, as indicated by Pebble Beach, cooling of air cooled car prices...no pun intended. I consider affordable $40K for well documented, low mileage cars, i.e. under 50K miles.
