Default Cat heat shield or wrap

My 04 996tt has FVD cat back exhaust and ECU flash for about 525 hp, my mechanic insists I should shield and or wrap the cats to protect motor from heat, anyone with info or experience? Thanks MP

FVD has their tuning dyno sheets on their website.

They tune to 490 HP (tune only) on a base turbo. Here's the dyno sheet:

For the X50, they tune to 510HP (tune only). And here's the dyno sheet for the X50 tune:

Undoubtedly with other mods, like an exhaust, these numbers go up.

no dyno info just claimed by EMW flash programmer, seems accurate makes a huge difference just wondered about heat shield etc.for cats, is this legitimate concern ?
