Idk...rmc1148 has a nice blue on grey 2001 with 13k miles and he is asking 52k. Seems like that's a crazy premium for white instead of blue and they are both rare colors and then you throw in mileage... artic silver is my least favorite for a turbo and white is in my top 5 and I think I'd take a sliver one with 13k miles for 52k over a white one with 50k plus miles for 50 grand. Nice care either way..I guess my point is rmc1148's car is a even bigger steal.

Thank you for the nice comments and agree its a great car at a very fair price. They did make fewer white and its the flavor of late, hope he gets his price= nice car.

I love that white, it is a beautiful car! I am sure it will sell at a good price.

But, I think the fact that these are 2001s hold the prices down a bit. Actual sales show that 2001s averaging in the high 50's mileage sell in the low 40s/high 30's. A 19,000 mile 2001 sold for $42,500, to cite one data point. The big money goes to the 2005s, understandably.



But, again, this really is a nice car and shouldn't be hard to sell!

I remember back in 2011 when I wanted low 50's for a sunroof delete speed yellow full carbon 996 Turbo with PSS9 and RUF wheels. People responded in the same way. Too high, look at the data, 996 Turbo's will never be worth anything and on and on.

Let me share some wisdom with you all. Color matters and white is rare. Dark Blue, Black, and silver are great but are a dime a dozen. Best of luck to all 996TT owners with cars currently for sale.

The person who buys this is going to look at this thread and laugh at all the naysayers when the white will be the rare and desirable car in the room.

You are exactly right about Biarritz White adding a premium - I just looked at the 2001 data detail and two of the top 3 sales where BW, the third was Orient Red. one BW sold for $49K with 44K miles. So your car seems to be a solid value at asking price.

I wouldn't put dark blue in the same category as black and silver, as over half the 996 Turbos are those two colors, but yes white is rarer than dark blue. I hope color does make as big a difference as some say it does, making a 50k mile car and 13k mile car equal, as that means I can pound some miles on my Lapis Blue Turbo and won't have to worry as much about getting killed when I sell it.

Meh to the naysayers. I think that you should be asking $55k.

I don't know what it is but we 996TT owners on this Board tend to underestimate our cars more than anyone. The current pricing difference versus the previous and newer generations is only because we allow it. These cars are dramatically undervalued and the market knows it - and the pricing is correcting. But many of us are pricing our cars in the rear view mirror based largely on our inferiority complex. 2005s getting "big money"? Jesus, those too are way underpriced versus anything else on the market. Show me why, other than what others have sold their cars for (which is what buyers use to price our cars) a 996TT is worthless relative to a 997.

Stop underselling our great cars because I tell you the people buying them will sell them much higher than you will- simply because we, as a group, have a jaded perception of our cars.

Yes blue is much rarer than black/silver etc not that they aren't great colors on the 996tt, I do not like white on the 996tt but that means nothing and just another opinion. BioBanker speaks a large truth in there is a lot of self loathing in 996tt owners, car forums are a fishbowl-small % of prospective buyers. Pulling a 2001 with 19k out of your butt means nothing= was it maintained - was title clean- color/options the list goes on. All the talk about buying cheaply and trying to get the price down to the bone tells me all I need to know about a buyer and have no interest in even talking with them. I will happily pay a premium for any product that I find superior or for that matter simply like better.

Because that's how markets work. Most buyers don't end up paying asking prices, and the actual amount changing hands across a number of transactions is what sets the market price. Of course it doesn't make sense for a buyer to raise their asking price if they are not getting offers, assuming they want the car to sell.

Current owners will want to see high selling prices, but the buyers have to agree to pay up. Some buyers will pay up, but if you scan the market and see the number of 997tts offered at less than $60k to mid-60's, it becomes hard to see high 50's or more as reasonable for comparable cars. This what puts a ceiling on the 996tt.

996tts are indeed considered a good deal now - but as 997tts continue to drop, they be considered such.

That said, this white car is likely priced right and will sell fairly soon. I think the fact that it is Gen 1 slows it a little, but it's a very desirable car. If it had the X50, I could be seriously considering it at this price. Plus the OP seems to be an upfront and easy to deal with guy - that makes a huge difference!! GLWS to the OP.

LOL! I didn't pull it out of my butt, but it is a valid data point from a deal that closed. It doesn't mean all sell at that price, but when others sit unsold at significantly higher prices, it is a good indication, when viewed rationally, that they are a bit over priced. But it is a business transaction - some are happy to pay the top of the market, some are more frugal, nothing wrong with either...

Any good 997.1 Turbo I saw when looking was 75k bucks or more and had atleast 20k miles on them, the only ones in the 60ks were tips or ones with 60k miles. That's why I ended up going with a 2005 Turbo S with 6k miles for 70k bucks as a comparable 7.1 was 15k bucks more and had twice the mileage and half the options and was black or silver. However I am a believer that mileage will always trump color, as in 15 years a silver 2001 with 10k miles will be worth a lot more than even a super rare PTS 2001 with 50k miles, but white seems to have quite the following so maybe I am in the minority.
