I just installed a double din Pioneer. Installed a Kenwood first but it had this crazy buzz and Crutchfield could not replace for a month so i got the pioneer. Glad i did, the Pioneer is much nicer. The BT phone quality is great even in my car with the horrendous drone. I used the Suncoast Porsche double din install kit. Did not need to cut any wires. Its all great for me with the 02. You have the MOST system and that's another story. With the MOST system i would suggest finding the head unit you like and then have it professionally installed unless your are really good at this stuff. I skipped the navigation/gps option in the head unit because none of the OEM tuner versions are as good as google or waze.

If I were going to update, I'd pick up a relatively basic headunit that has USB charging port and do an iPad in-dash setup.

I thought about doing it when I first got my car, but overtime I've grown to like the simplicity of the 996.
