Default Gt2 tires on stock wheels

Have anyone installed gt2 size tires on their stock wheels? Mine is a 2002 tt with stock wheels and I am contemplating the bigger tires. I plan on keeping everything stock so the beast have not been altered at all i.e. Not lowered or new coilovers etc. would there be any wheel to fender rub or turning radius problems? Or any unforeseen problems I may not know about? If I were to go bigger tires what are the changes I need to make if any? Thanks all for your input and advise

Welcome! They fit but the inner rear tires can rub the fender lining unless moved away and GT2 supports installed.

The recommended rim width for the 315 rears is 10.5" - 11.5" so they are actually a bit wide for the stock rims.

If you are running AWD then, on most manufacturer's inventories, the GT2 Front to Rear diameter bias is not right for the correct operation of the viscous coupling.

I've also done the same to my car, No issues and actually fills out the wheel arches much better

You wanna run 245/40/18 and 315/30/18 for AWD. That makes the front just a little taller than the rear.

I did actually try that based on your earlier recommendations, and it did improve the handling over the 235s but I did experience some clearance problems and binding on biggish locks whilst reversing. For road use, the car just seems to be so much more agile on stock rims and tyres, whilst not quite so aesthetically pleasing.

Aren't the stock rear rims 11" ; right in the middle of the recommended range?

For 245/315s you really want a 9/12 wheel for optimum performance. Ideally you want a small amount of sidewall stretch.
