Thanks KC-FunnyGuy...there is a very distinct difference between the turbo sound and the sound I am experiencing. Do you have a turbo? If so, did you listen to my videos? Does your car sound similar? I bet not...did you already offer up any ideas?

Thanks for all of the input...car has 44k miles and not sure about track time. I was told none of course. Last owner had a different gt3 track car, so none for him. Prior to him, I don't know. Given where it was owned I suspect not.

Yes I have a turbo. Yes I listened to the videos. No it does not sound like yours. I thought it was going to be the stereo ... but you ruled that out. My 944 Turbo developed a whine at highway speed. Fresh tires fixed it.
Just take the comment to be the light hearted comment it was intended to be. Good luck with solving your problem. :-)

Wow, sorry...I thought I posted them on this thread.
Here they are:
Here are some videos where I tried to capture the noise. Pretty audible in these (poorly shot) videos. Thanks for your continued help/input!

Sounds close to what mine sounded like before getting rebuilt and I had similar on/off throttle characteristics.
Still, check what everyone's suggesting first and you have some great resources for advice based on your pm

Figured since you're choosing wheel color it may have worked out ok.

Can't let the new wheels/tires and suspension work be held up by whatever else is going on. Have to get it all done.
Will report back when I know! Thank you.

Well, it's official. My transmission is toast.
How foolish it was to trust Zuluracerx and his "fresh" PPI from BBI.
With an extremely loud kline 3" decat exhaust and the stereo, I didn't hear the transmission noises until after I bought the thing. The noises only became evident with no stereo and after a bit more time, while on the freeway. Couldn't hear it around town.
Moral of the story? Don't trust anyone (no matter how well they check out and what they say) and get your own PPI done. (DUH)
In the end, people who say they'll "stand by the car should you have any problems"...don't. Instead they accuse you of ruining the transmission by "launching the car", etc. Not the case. I cautiously drove the thing home in 6th gear, to and from the grocery store, to and from cars and coffee (in town) and to and from the Porsche shop to diagnose the noises. That's it. Anyhow, my fault for buying without getting it thoroughly checked.
Anyhow, I'll be happy with the car once the transmission is rebuilt but damn, what a HUGE unexpected expense right out of the gate. Big lesson learned.
Good thing my wife is taking it so well.
