Yup, pretty strong price. I believe that price doesn't include fees, which if im not mistaken is 10%. So more like $82,500

Exactly what the Hagerty price guide said it should sell for.

The buyer must have forgot to check NADA and KBB before bidding. What a fool.

Great result particularly since Mecum is often not a great venue for porsches.

Maybe the buyer should have? That's a bit of money for that car. Auctions are funny. I've attended some machinery auctions and had prepared myself to know the market value of the machinery being offered for sale.

When the auction started I just waited until the bidding slowed down and I could put in my bid and buy the machinery. But the bidding didn't slow down and the price rose above what I believed the machinery should have sold for.

This happened for a number of items in which I was interested in. The bidding I think became a kind of competition with bidders bidding more than the equipement was worth. I observed this at several auctions, too.

I ended up after the auction finding new machinery not much more expensive (we are talking about machinery costing in total nearly $25K) than what used comparable used machinery sold for at these auctions.

Of course no one can buy a new Turbo for $75K but that seems to be a pretty dear price to pay for a used one.

I watched the same thing when I had my totaled Cayman S up for auction at a salvage auction. The bidding started and after not much time passed the value the insurance company (and Oaklahoma Foreign) assigned to the car and the car sold for over $3K more than its assessed value or around 17% more. As a seller I was not unhappy at all with this outcome.

Understand if the 996 Turbo market catches fire and prices rise as an owner I'm not going to complain. But I think I will cash out at some point.

It is pretty remarkable for sure. I suppose as with anything, something is only worth as much as the market is willing to pay. Right now it would seem like the market is willing to accept some sort of appreciation in price on these cars. Like many of you, I sure wouldn't complain if these cars began to appreciate a little more. That being said it can be distorted if folks give them away lol.

OK. This is my first time on this. I am thinking serious about a 996 twin turbo manual. What is your thoughts on this as group and any suggestions or best place to look for one?

Agreed...Love the Sport seats and the painted bits inside the car. That would be a short drive for me, if I have a chance I will try and swing by that auction. They have an estimate of $50-70k and they are probably right.

Having owned a turbo Porsche now for some time, I would gladly take one with more miles versus the headaches that will DEF come from owning a low mileage one.

But the suspension is not nearly original, I haven't seen a stock 996TTS being so low...

Also, there's not really much information about the car itself (besides the "history") but about the TTS in general (which they got partly wrong - but 1 of 300 sounds probably more sexy than 1 of 963)!
