Porsche Goes Electric
Porsche gives its Tesla killer the green light: Mission E can be charged simply by driving over a special tile and has a holographic dashboard controlled just by LOOKING at it
Four seater car can go from zero to 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds
Will still be slightly slower than Tesla's new 'ludicrus' mode
Can travel over 500 km on one charge using conductive system
Will go on sale by the end of the decade.

Obviously, it'll look different when produced.
Since my "other" car is electric, I certainly understand the performance potential is there. But I think a 911 type electric car is several years off. It will require leaps in battery technology to eliminate the weight penalty.
In the past, the only contender was the Tesla Roadster, but that demonstrated it can be done. And it's still the best electric sports car alternative. http://fortune.com/2015/09/01/tesla-...ttery-upgrade/

yeah, and if you think you'll be able to drive at or even near its top speed ( by the end of THIS decade? ) without the cars black box/dme reporting this irresponsible behavior to your insurance company,.? or perhaps even real time gps reportage to the appropriate LEO agencies, then you're hopelessly naive.
did they ( yet ) mention this car would be "driverless"? ha.

The tesla is a sports sedan. The media keeps pushing it into the sportscar category or near sports car category! Just think its misplaced. Top speed as demonstrated by tesla is limited to keep from overheating as I would bet the Porsche potential will be software limited. I Would also bet the Porsche will out handle the Tesla.
Think this Porsche development is to put Tesla on notice. We shall see.

What makes you think the Porsche Mission E vehicle will report its GPS data back to your insurance company without your consent?

No worries. All homes built in the USA in the past 50-60 years can easily handle the charging load. Induction charging load is nothing compared to the load a home central air condition sysyem draws.

The devices can not report directly to your insurance company without your consent but they are sending back GPS location data to their manufactures (Garmin, Apple, Samsung, etc) 24/7. We are all being tracked all the time.

i don't think that "consent" will have anything to do with ANY reportage. just like "onstar". by availing oneself of the "use" of it, whether voluntary or not, you'll be "consenting" to the reportage of your personal data, and that will include speed/trajectory/location etc etc...and to your point, that might well ( and probably is ) already written into the boilerplate that using the product the end user consents to, by "default".
believe that.
