another option is to order a factory 6GT3 RS wheel.

as posted above. i went with the "cavallo race" in aluminum and leather. in keeping with my car interior/exterior being black X sliver.
the quality of the raid wheel actually exceeds the quality of the porsche interior in fit and finish in my estimation. it's "that" good. same as the dvd wheel. they are all "raid". but for 800 bucks!?! there is no better deal for a new airbag included wheel. don't forget to get the "adapter" which you'll need, its like 80/90 bucks. then it takes about a week from carnewal. email gert and he'll answer any/all question you may have. but be aware, belgium is having more than their share of strangeness over there right now owing to the beginning of ww3. not sure if that has "yet" to affect "commerce". you wont be sorry. just pick the "style" you like and make sure you get the 340mm. http://i66.tinypic.com/142xwll.jpg I like the Porsche badge. I have the same wheel w/o the silver. Nice. Mine was originally sold as a TechArt. The are all made by Atiwe. I do not believe that there is another aftermarket manufacturer for steering wheels w/airbags for 996/7s.
I like the Porsche badge. Soft sticker emblem? Where is it from? i agree also re: airbag wheels and there are just "made" for our cars as you say. i immediately noticed while looking into them ( as that stock wheel at 380mm is an abomination..) that all the fvd/techart etc were atwie/raid as i understand it, and the markups for those particular "badgings" ( e.g. the fvd or techart "logos" ) on what is essentially ( or IS ) a raid/atwie wheel is 1/3 more $expensive at least and do not come cheap! as i mentioned earlier, that depicted wheel was 800 US. whereas fvd wants 1200.00 or whatever.. it's a LOT more. the only source i'm aware of for the 340mm wheel at a "reasonable" price is carnewal, and btw that emblem came with mine. funny side note..wrosstt was certain it was going to fly off and become some kind of projectile leaving me with an emblematic porsche tatoo on my forehead, but i've managed so far to avoid any impacts from the rear that might cause the emblem to fly into my face lol. though frontal impact might well face plant me also! where it not for the supplied airbag LOL so yes steve, great wheel, and (imo) it best suits the car. I've seem em all, and absent a spartan momo wheel? this is "it" as far as I'm concerned. one last point to anyone looking to get one, and at risk of repeating myself... given that ww3 is beginning in earnest, and belgium is as of today, in near "shutdown", ya better get one soon if you'll be using carnewal as a source. i'm sure gert will say biz "today" is as usual, but I say, it will not be.... for long. mine was 450 euros plus a wheel extension so about 800/900 US all in (iirc?) this was a couple/few years back. they also have tip/paddle versions and alcantara/leather combo's great stuff! and you sir, also have x'lnt taste lol. |
This is my FVD 340mm steering wheel: Custom color (Metropol Blue), leather airbag, and custom stitching color.
