"02996ttx50 question for you
I drove a Mclaren MP4 today and it was super fast in every gear. I've never felt that much power before...My turbo is stock as is my GT3 and I know you have a highly modded 6tt. Have you ever driven a Mclaren MP4 and if so how does your cars acceleration compare?
Thx!
Thx!

Would love to pit mine against an mp4. Sorry cant help.

No I haven't sorry..and my car is mid level power not "highly" modded by "today's" standards. But nodded nicely as compared to a stock car certainly e.g 550/575+ rwhp. Most recent embarassment was to a brand new jag xkcoupé.

I have about same level of modding (550hp at the wheels) on an 02' X50.
At COTA it lapped a very nice 2013 MP4-12C which was brought up to 14' specs by owner.
On the straights? Not even close, the MP pulled away from me. On the twisty bit? Well, I did lap him. Twice in one session. Driver obviously has a little something to do with it.

last track day, MP4-12C with exhaust was neck and neck with me on straights, which I was surprised about(stock k24's, EPL 91oct 'track', 72lbs +1bars, catted straight pipes...and dead consistent lap after lap)...old GT2 had no problem showing the MP4 up in corners and under braking

i dont want to overstate the case. but it was my turf and his car had probably eleven miles on it. but it WAS fast, i'm guessing, absent any humility that i am/was the "better" driver but also taking into account my car was better setup esp for the territory we were in again, it being my turf; "the snake" at mulholland which if you've seen it? is 'challenging' in any 500+ car!
he was an old guy feeling his oats. i'm an old guy perennially stuck in adolescence. yes, "i won", if you could call it that.

I've run laps with a MP4-12C. Pulled him rather easily on 145mph straight and had about 7+ seconds on him on a 2minute lap. Rode in the same car as passenger later that day. The electronics in the car make the driver look like a hero and mask a lot of errors... It's a sexy car, you don't see many of them..

I've personally done a heads up against an MP4, they're quick in a straight line. Pulled on me by about 1.5 car lengths through 4th (IIRC). My main power adders are Billet K16's, EPL 91 + 72LB Injectors + 1 Bar WG's, Speedtech 3" Catless exhaust. My car probably is around ~580-600 bhp.

how did you arrive at your estimated power level numbers? and are you rwd? thanks. i ask as my car hasn't been dyno'd in yrs and the shop that did all/most the add on's ( that pre dated my possession of it ) claimed it was near 500awhp and then i've added at least 75/100 w ipd and catless tuned exhaust plus am now rwd w wavetrac etc.
i ask as pwdr got me wondering recently and as it cools down out here, i may take it to a new shop setup for rwd turbos dyno pulls and get some newly more accurate numbers. etc.
so just using some time honored guesstimates to .. well, guess. TIA.
if you dont mind? same question vis a vis power and how you arrive at the 550whp figure. awd or rwd? short list of POWER mods? if you wouldn't mind? TIA!

i have most of that stuff catless but 2.5 w 5bar -injectors but added ipd plenum w old skool 16/24's ( LOVE lol ) but 1.2 tuned for 91 ( sadly ).

Power mods are never additive. You can't take +20 for exhaust, +20 for throttle body, +20 for catless and expect to get a +60 total. Not gonna happen... There comes a point of diminishing returns. Throw the car on a dyno and you'll have your answer in 15 minutes.. Get a baseline and look at what mods bring to the table on the same dyno.

To be honest, I'm going off of average power gains for each component. I haven't had it dynoed and I really should sometime soon, just so I have a real answer . I'm still AWD, haven't really considered the RWD conversion. I would have to ride in a similarly setup RWD 6TT and see how it drives in the curves. I definitely feel the slight understeer in its current form.
to johns point regarding parts being ( or not ) being cumulative. they are to SOME degree!? but i do agree, that you can't say 20 here 20 there, and then you're +40. understandable that "it" doesn't work like that. but by their very nature, the power/tq they "add" would have to be cumulative on one level or another! but again, i agree, it can't simply be a simple math equation.
but for my part and to stop "guessing!" i AM gonna finally get this thing on rollers and know for sure. all i know is that the wheelie bar has helped a lot!

oh, it's a world of difference. i'm anxious to have mine dynoe'd as well! just not when it's 108 outside!

me too, and an educated guess does't bother me a bit. thx.
