02 is a GREAT yr. preferred my 02 over my 03! mostly the MOST! HATE the most system ..about to finally dump it! whew lol

used wheels or forgestars or OZ are a great track choice for lightness and cheap! or used twists can be found fairly easily too as you've said.
i wouldn't wanna track rash any gt3 wheels... IF you can even find any!

Thanks you guys...Since the last post I've mounted a new set of Sumitomo HTR Z III's and I'll be aligning it this week. Also picked up a B&M short shift kit. Next on the to-do list is suspension (most likely PSS10's) and I'm leaning towards swapping these wheels with some Forgestar F14s.

I might drive the Turbo to Streets of Willow with POC in 2 weeks if anyone else is gonna be out there. Not ready to track it though, I'll be driving the race car (fellow Rennlister jrgordonsenior 's previous race car).

ya cant really go wrong with the f14's for sturdiness or price. i beat the living cra* out of them for the last few years. bear in mind a couple of things i would consider that i didn't properly when i ordered them.

they are NOT hub centric for 18 which i believe to be the only size these cars should run on,. so you have NO choice but to run the hub ring insert. i'm not so sure thats a terrific well thought out piece though it IS Inside the wheel not like a spacer outside. dont use the supplied lug bolts i snapped like 6 of them, but i run hard off camber intense lateral stresses on them. i ordered rad TUV certified but by then was already waiting on the OZ to be made. etc.

also, you can NOT run proper ball seat 19mm oem lugs but have to run tapered cone seat ( suckage ) in 17mmX 14X1.5. a royal PITA. so you need a thin wall socket in 17 and adapters etc. its a hassle!

the upside is i ordered 9X12X18 40 offset in brushed alum for 375 each and they ran and looked bitc*in

you're MUCH better off with OZ. better wheel oem fitment and similar price point. good luck,

Thanks for the heads up, I've had good experiences with OZ but I thought I'd look into the F14's. I'm most likely switching to studs/lug nuts so hopefully I won't have to deal with the same issues you had. Do you have a pic of your 18" F14s mounted on the car? I'd like to get a better idea of the look, I've only been able to see 996s fitted with 19s, which I don't want to do.

I didn't want to go to 19s either, but the stock turbo twists are a bit dated looking, so I decided to buy the F14s.

Here are a few pics of 18" F14s on my 2002 (which I coincidentally bought in San Diego about 6mo ago)... I bought high quality tuner lugs from World Products and haven't had any issues. And while the rings aren't the most elegant solution to hubcentric fit, they don't seem to be a problem --and I did a ton of research before pulling the trigger.

Keep in mind my car is stock ride height...with the rough SF roads and my driveway, I just can't lower it.

those were much better pictures than i was able to provide. more like gigantor lives.

i never really did sort out my lug issue with them and settled on tuner lugs.

With regard to the pics I posted? Nah, it's just a shadow...

here's the wheels and the hubcentric rings prior to mounting:

I figured as clean as your car was it was probably something like that, nice looking wheels.
