Daily driver

All sorts of interesting daily drivers out there. I'm actually surprised at the number of turbos that are driven daily. Sounds kind of like those Michelins are some of the favorite tires out there. Are the extra cost of them even really justifiable for driving on the street? I mean, like my bikes I use slicks on for racing, but I don't think there is anyway anyone riding on the streets could utilize the full potential of them.
I guess I'm just curious if a set of Michelins is really worth twice as much as some other tires? For the track maybe? How about just street driving?

My 03 is not a daily driver, as I have an 02 Boxster for that, but the Turbo gets used a few times a week. I could live with the Turbo as my DD but thankfully do not have to. I much prefer dashing about in town and running errands in the Boxster. Much easier to drive in town and into and out of parking lots and its gas mileage is better in this kind of usage.
As for tires you are going to get all sorts of recommendations.
I have to say I read posts by other owners using off the reservation tires and only getting 6K km usage and on the street too? Wow! Assuming the alignment is ok that is not a good recommendation for that tire.
With my Turbo on N-rated tires (Continental or Bridgestone) I can manage over 20K miles on the rears, double that on the fronts.
'course, I have had the car aligned and avoid doing things that upset the alignment.

look at yoko advans/bridgestones are sturdy/goodrich rivals/'kook rs3's? ( if size appropriate ) or nt 01's. many choices available, but if you PUSH the car daily? that;'s where you see the value in ps2's in my experience.

Mine dropped in my lap at the beginning of the year, as a friend didn't need it anymore. Was looking for a commuter, other than my F350. (My other 911s are either track rats, or have been taken off the road until I get around to dealing with deferred maintenance.) Put almost 10K miles on it so far, and it's going to Phoenix next week.
I do use a shop truck ('98 F150 V-6 manual) about 1/2 time now as I lost an employee to a bad back/retirement, and haven't replaced him. So, there's a bit of a contrast in rides out to the warehouse at 5-530A.

The Michelin Ps2's have a 20,000 mile tread life warranty( and 1/2 for the rears if two different sizes of tires on the car). So does that mean you put more than 30K - 40K miles a year on the tt?
