Redline
Quick question to those in the know:
Is the redline of the 996TT 6600 RPM in _all_ forward gears? Thanks. |
The redline in reverse is actually 9,000 rpms.
|
Just kidding!!!
How are you Skaria? |
Thanks for the info Ken. That info really helps! I'm good... keeping busy tricking out my wife's SLK. For the price of a GIAC chip, I can do every single mod in the book available for the SLK.
Back to my original question before I was rudely interrupted by Ken. ;-) Does anyone know the redline RPMs in the forward gears? Thanks. |

Wow! Those manuals are sure handy, dandy things to read, aren't they? Anyone seen Jim Bob lately? I sure miss him.

What about reverse? |

I actually heard that reverse on most cars is smaller than first except on Porsche!! No wonder most people with upgraded clutches stall in reverse...

Stock redline is 6750 RPM, for TT model. I had EVO raise mine to 6950RPM with no issues!

I wonder if he's asking because the rev limiter in the '04 GT3 is 8200 rpm in 1st thru 4th but 8000 rpm in 5th & 6th?
|
No, the only reason why I was asking was that I got cut off a couple of times at a little past 6000 in first gear recently while the other gears were at the red mark on the tach. I never really look at the tach when I drive in the street and I only looked recently because I hit the rev limiter.
Thanks. |
No, the only reason why I was asking was that I got cut off a couple of times at a little past 6000 in first gear recently while the other gears were at the red mark on the tach. When accelerating at WOT in 1st gear, I initiate the 1-2 shift at 5800-6000 RPM...maximizes the power and provides much smoother shifts, since trying to shift smoothly once the limiter engages is just about imposible. |
