My car has travelled 105,000 miles and I suspect my engine mount(s) needs replacing. Other local 996TT have level exhaust tips, whereas mine are not level. Is this a sure sign a mount has gone?

at 105k i'm sure the mounts could use replacing..and the trans mount rubber is probably crumbling as well.

The best way to determine if the mount is gone is to look at them from underneath the car. If you see black fluid stains on the side, then they are bad. Factory mounts are fluid filled and this is the tell-tale sign.

Exhaust tips can be adjusted. They are not a good indicator of bad motor mounts

In your avatar picture, are those real slalom cones?!!! They look like they would take off a body panel if you hit one.

I think they are road work cones. Luckily I didn't hit one. Mind you the small ones are annoying as well as they can get trapped under the car.
