Was probably a 'marketing' bit by Porsche, K16/base @0.8 bar, X50 @0.9(-1bar) and GT2@ 1bar
A quality tune(EPL, UMW, 911Tuning, etc) will have little effect on durability, maintenance is wayyyyy more important...beauty of the Mezger is that if it is ever getting tired, it is virtually infinity rebuildable
I'm running ~1.2bar 'track/conservative' tune on 91oct with EPL(injectors, wastegates), smooth as silk and dead consistent even on hot (near 40C) days...good tune is your friend....

Ok, I'm a believer that you can safely boost the HP of the engine. Can the clutch, half-shafts and tranny handle the extra power (torque)? Of course if we're talking tiptronic, hydraulics can absorb it so I'm talking M6. I'm more familiar with Corvette tune which initially takes out torque management but at the expense of the driveline components, & half-shafts have snapped during drag racing. Just wondering about 996.

think of it this way. the axles are a mechanical fuse. this is the first thing to bereak if wheel hopping the car or dumping the clutch hard. the reason? a 1000$ axle is much cheaper than rebuilding the transmission for 6 to 7k$. stock clutch won't last long with a simple tune. the turbo cars have crazy torque when spooled up and the clutch pays the price

Excellence doesn't know what the F they are talking about, that statement honestly made me laugh out loud. If 80hp extra puts any part of a 911 turbo in jeopardy they would all be broken by now if they are running that close to their limit. What a steaming pile of bull...

Therefore, a 996tt optioned with the X50 power package that has a (quality...aka UMW) tune that brings the boost to 1.2 bar is running a nearly identical tune on a nearly identical engine/power configuration as the Porsche factory tuned 996 GT2.
My crazy *** car is at max of what K24s can do, I hit and held 1.4 bars Eurodyne tune, IATS 113F, 60-130 8.4secs uphill in 92F ambients today.... all mods except DVs and wastegates... I need intercoolers badly
