Default snapping lugs! any help??

i'm currently running forgestar wheels in 9 x 12 fitment. i continue to snap wheel lugs at an alarming rate.

it began when i first fit them and used the shiny lugs of a presumably asian origin and although i have used a number of different kinds of bolts, they still are conical 14mm/1.5 in bolts. pretty standard fare. since converting to rwd i am snapping them in half, and just removed wheels to get bumpers off etc and found three more bolts had sheared! this after changing out for new rear rubber a month ago. all bolts torqued to spec, at the time.

i realize i'm putting some power down with the combination of my wavetrac tbd/lsd and roughly 475+rwhp and a lot of cambered turn powered throttling out of apexes?! but this is insane and potentially quite dangerous. so what is next?! do i drop the few hun on the tikore titanium? and will that cure this? i'm wondering now if it's the wheels themselves? they are not "hubcentric", but that added spacer ring shouldn't have an impact on this issue. the lugs do seem to have some discoloration ( water rust?? ) but i dry the wheels as best i can if/when i ever wash the car lol

torquing to 90 - 96 ft lbs. any info, comments/advice or whatever is greatly appreciated. scary proposition this....

And your torque wrench is calibrated and accurate?

I bet it's the brand/quality of the aftermarket lugs, factory stuff can be way overtorqued many, many times without failing from what I've seen

thx. just using what most anyone would use. trying to figure out.. what's different. 7 or 8 have snapped by my count. all since using these wheels. has to be a bolt quality issue agreed. anyone know what are guys running 700whp using!?

pretty much ruled out overtorqueing...

What size spacers?

How are you able to mount non hubcentric wheels on the spacers that are, properly, without vibration issues?

they're not wheel "spacers" as we might ordinarily use. they are a hubcentric "ring" supplied by f'star, that fit inside the barrel. if that makes sense? so as to make non "hubcentric" wheels, "fit".

It has to be your studs, I had those wheels before with more hp and never had issues. I didn't use the studs they supplied, I had Apex longer studs.

do you remember if they were longer than 1.5?? is there "any" possibility it has as much to do with where/how i drive, as it does lousy bolts? ( think "hillclimbing", less so straightlines ). that's the only thing i can figure.. but i appreciate any/all help!

i mean this has me stymied and actually quite concerned.

just checking here, have you converted to studs and nuts vs the factory style bolts?
Has been many issues with most studs/nuts conversions

i can't. they don't fit. because of the wheel design? they have to be 14mm.

ok so you're running 'tuner' lug bolts...I'd give Forgestar a call and see if they have a recommended brand.
I asked about stud and nut because many track guys go that 'conversion' route to make wheel swaps easier, but seem to have many failure

once again their lugs looked like sh*t, order proper size from H&R or put in studs via apex or rennline.
