Unhappy 996tt - Intermittent starting problem

I have just heard that a fellow Porscheholic is having problems starting his 996tt X50 in the mornings. He recently took delivery of the car with a few thousands miles on the clock. The problem is overcome by leaving the car in sunlight for a few hours.

The last eleven dayss experiences are typed below:

Friday: Collect the car.
Saturday: Fails to start until the sun warms it up.
Sunday: Fails to start until the sun warms it up.
Monday: Taken on flatbed to OPC.
Tuesday - Friday: Starts working again
Saturday: Collect from OPC.
Sunday: Fails to start until the sun warms it up
Monday: After sun warms it up, return to the OPC again.
Tuesday (TODAY): Starts first turn of key. OPC have no idea.

The OPC are taking the car back this evening to try and replicate the early morning start problem.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any comments, suggestions or similar experiences and solutions would be most useful. The technicians at the OPC appear to be merely scratching their heads at present.

thanks

Are you sure it's the sun?

I know of fuel pump problems. Actually went through it. It happened intermittently and more often than not. Took it to the dealer and they sorted it first time around. I had to go back to "fix the software" on the car's brain though. It had gotten used to faulty readings from the faulty fuel pump or something like that. Now it's completely sorted.

Cheers

I've experienced a similar problem. In the mornings, my car usually doesn't start on the first turn of the key. At first I thought I wasn't pushing the clutch in the entire way, but now I am sure that I do. Anyway, I turn the key once, and nothing happens. Turn the key a second time and with a slight hesitation it starts. Only had the car a few weeks, so I wasn't sure if this was normal.
