No mention of any special end of run x50's getting any boost in reading the Porsche 911 turbo The ultimate guide published by Total 911, which has a review of a 996 2005 Turbo (X50). 450hp at 5700 RPM and 437lb/ft at 3500-4500 RPM.

No differences in power numbers for any X50. The horsepower number depends on which measurement standard (SAE or DIN) you use. I believe X50 is 444hp SAE (US standard) or 450 DIN (European standard)

This seller seems to think the last two years of GT2 production had more HP also. I just stumbled upon this by accident.

Seller references "BHP" = Brake HP= power of engine before parasitic drive train losses.
His claim of 489 BHP is in line with any published DIN or SAE HP numbers. However, the factory never published BHP figures in any sales brochure, as it was verboten since 1972. Where he got this figure, or how he arrived at it, is anyone's guess.
With the majority of S Turbo Cabs sent to USA, his production claim of only 20 RHD cars, probably makes this car more of a rarity.
The last of the cars may have been "hand finished" because of two reasons.
First, any "exclusive options" were installed after the car was rolled off the assembly line. The cabs tended to have more exclusive options than most, hence the hands on 'exclusive treatment', especially with cars that could have $40K in options.
Second, Porsche was running out of parts to finish cars and was cobbing together the final trim. The 997 production had started and not much of anything was interchangeable to the 996. The "hand finishing" was out of necessity, not as a matter of course.
The 'S' models came with "S" badges all over. However, certain factory exclusive options would trump the stinkin badges, such as painted dials, special door sills, and optional wheels and/or painted wheel crests.
