996T STOLEN!!!

And does anyone still disagree with capitol punishment. These thugs that do this would bash your skull in (if you interupted them) so they could get away. I wish the bleeding hearts would live in the real world and see that the larger segment of society is regularly victimized by these "poor sad souls with drug problems". Sorry, I know it's OT but it's actually the root. Shouldn't have to worry about going to the gym.

Sorry for your loss..... Side question though...what spacers if any did you use on your 997 rims? What were the tire sizes? Did you experience any change in feel or any "check engine lights?"

I would say a chopped Porsche 996TT is quite valuable in terms of the parts it yields, especially considering this car was cherry to begin with. Engine numbers can easily be changed and the rest of the car is easy to part out. Main shell will get trashed.
By the way, everyone out there, Lojack is offering a $295 special ($400 off regular price) for collector cars thru the month of March. I don't know if the Porsche will qualify in their program but I'm giving their offer serious consideration.

OP: Sorry to hear about your car

I live in Dallas and this sort of thing happened at the Ballys I went to. This turned out to be a couple of people who watched peoples's cars they wanted to hit and followed them into the club to see what lockers they used and used bolt cutters to gain access. One member that was hit had the police check out surrounding Ballys clubs to see if a membership card was used at multiple locations on the same day. It was and thats how they were busted.
Good luck. This sucks.

Viper smartstart gps
Just a suggestion get a viper smartstart gps, the stand alone module can be used to track a car. $199 gets three years of tracking and the unit cost around $400 installed viper.com, you can also install it with a full alarm for more although just the unit being powered in the car is all you need to track it.
Mobileiq.ca also sells some that can disable a fuel pump and alert you. The Viper gps can also be connected by an installer to alert you if the alrm goes off.
As for remote starting a 996, yes it can be done, it is very involved and requires purchasing a new key/blade/ transponder fob and then programming it to the car then using a transponder loop and interface to allow the remote start alarm to show the transponder to the car and then start the car after sending a disarm pulse from the oem remote, which also needs to be wired to power unless you want to have to change batteries in it later by opening the transponder loop box.
Remote start is very involved.
The best is a viper smartstart gps, backup battery, and a timer relay to trigger the alert to the gps when the oem alarm horn chirps or sounds. Simple and reliable. Carefully hidden in the car a thief would never know it was there, and you can track your car as long as there is cellular service where it is at.

Boys - Heidi (2002 996T) is back. No damage (thank god). Found 3 miles away with an empty gas tank and battery dead. Looks like some kids stole it from the gym but were too scared to go to the gas station or even drive it. It was found in the parking lot of an apt complex. Some neighbor ratted on the thieves. Found 9 days after being stolen with the car cover over it. Thats why it took so long to find it. Only 5 miles put on it while gone.

^ So they got the people who took it?
-- Suddenly, that "old scratch" looks new and these dings just happened to pop up on the joy ride... At least that's what I'd say. Hope they throw the thieves to the wolves. Good to hear you got it back.
