Xr4tim = Don't know what makes you think of a low dollar respray, since they match perfectly. and blend in perfectly with the bumper. They look like original. Reminds me of the looks of older BMW's and Corvettes that have those black plastic door handles, it looks like an oversight. Don't think the 997 with color keyed bumperettes look like an overspray. Not sure of the observation.

You guys did the bumperettes just because you saw Porsche changed them in the 997TT. But Porsche didn't change them because they look better,I guess they just wanted to differentiate the old model to the new.
And besides,it will look a lot cleaner without the bumperettes all together...
If I paint my black key silver and post here, many will follow. Oh wait,in the new cars you can actually get a painted key...

I changed my bumperettes because my 986 Boxster was a 2004 550SE, and was the only 986 or 996 that came with color-sprayed bumperettes (GT Silver in that case.) It looked so much better than all the other Boxsters I'd been looking at, and for one year I was the only Porsche anywhere with those bumpers. I couldn't get over how much better it made the car look from the rear.
So when I added the TT, off to Eric at Bumperplugs they went.
