Passenger side window rolled down by itself, twice
Thanks in advance.
I did a quick search and couldnt find anything and I have not had time to physically look at the car but:
Today on the drive to work, when I was stopped at two different lights, the passenger side window decided to go down. Nothing was touching the switch by the parking brake.
I was able to put the window up shortly after, but WTF?
Also, on the same drive, my wipers may have turned on by themselves. I say *may have* because Im not 100% positive I didnt hit the stalk, but I dont think that I did.
Battery should be fine - it was on a tender for most of the holidays and I drove it a few times without any weirdness yesterday. Car starts fine. Its been running well.
Is my car haunted?

All I can think is that some where between your switch and the door motor there is a short that causes the connection to close and it to roll down the window. Could be moisture, worn out micro switch on the button or maybe the wire is worn where it flexes into the door.

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. It allows the ECU to reset. If that doesn't work pursue the wiring short possibility or maybe a faulty switch. Have you or anyone else spilt coffee/soda in the car? Over zealous cleaning maybe?

Reminds me of an off-lease 1987 Sterling 825SL I bought in 1989 with 16k miles. Bought on a Thursday. All weekend random electrical crap like that would happen. It had those motorized seatbelts that run on a track from the front of the doorframe, along the top of the doorframe, and back to the rear, to buckle you in automatically. LOL, it would do that, racing back and forth, randomly while I drove down the highway. Three times the car died electrically while I was driving; died so dead that all the presets on the computer and stereo were gone!
Monday morning I showed back up at the dealer. He took it back without even asking me what had happened! Just shook his head and said to go around to the cashier and she'd have a check for me.
Had to love Sterlings...

Mine starting doing things like this right before a battery failure. No other warning like struggling to start, etc.

Ok - thanks for that.
When you had weirdness, was it always the same thing?
Window went down 4 times on way home - I didn't notice anything else. If I push the button to raise it when it's going down, it stops. If I let go, it continues down. A couple times it was tricky to get back up.
When it reaches the bottom the motor hunts and clicks. It may be that it only goes back up after the clicking stops..unsure...

Still doing it this AM.
But I think that I have figured more puzzle pieces out. It does it when Im shifting - which tells me that its a mechanical issue in the console, not in the door and probably not the battery.
My best guess is that a connection is loose in the console, probably left from when I installed my Numeric shifter in the spring.
My plan: find the fuse that runs the windows and pull it until the weather warms up and Im able to get into the console without breaking parts in sub zero temps.

Sounds like you probably figured it out and agreed pull fuse ( hopefully other accessories aren't tied in with it ) and wait for warmer weather/ or find a warm garage lol.

Problem seems to have been solved by moving the wires in the console to the side. Seems like the shifter linkage was laying the beat down on them at certain points in the shifting cycle.
Phew!

I had this happen to me once when the car was parked and locked. The passenger window rolled itself down. I have not had this happen since I replaced the battery.
Another odd thing that has happened: I unlocked my car, got in and the radio turned on by itself with the keys out of the ignition. That was interesting.
I think the Pig has a mind of its own sometimes.
