Default Headlight Refurbishing

Maybe time for another headlight post? I bought a 2002 Turbo with 65K miles, and the headlights were not so good. So I removed the headlights, pulled off the plastic cover for the washer, without breaking, wet sanded with 1000 grit, then 1500 grit, then 2000 grit. I spent about 30 minutes on each headlight wet sanding by hand. Then I polished with random orbital using 3M Stage 3 light polishing compound and finished with a headlight restorer polishing compound and a new polishing pad.

They could use a little more sanding and polishing but overall they look great. I will have a 3M Clear Bra install done along with the front end soon.

Picture below left is complete and below right yet to be done.

Nice job. Glad you are getting them covered. Unless you do that or have a sealer, they will yellow again. I used a similar method on my 996 but used Meguires M105 and M205 after sanding. Did my wife's mercedes and mine a couple of years ago. Mine needs to be redone but hers still looks good and I used a sealer on both.

Great job with the headlight refurb. Just wondering... is it just me or there's more gap on the passenger side between the headlamp and bumper. When you put the headlights back on, was there enough play to adjust the positioning?

Look even to me. Maybe camera not exactly centered in the pic?

Probably the camera is at an angle.

Mine were REAL bad. I used these guys (found a local guy) and for 100$ they were as good as new and 100% guaranteed. http://drheadlight.com/
