Default taillight screw attachment points

Long story short was at dealer to get some work done and they over tightened and cracked attachments for taillights. Did not notice until I washed the car today and since its been about a month I'm sure they will tell me to kiss off. I even warned the service manager about this as my lights were perfect. Oh well since I'm **** I will pony up for some new lights.

I was able to super glue the parts together and it has worked so far. Of course tighten very carefully.

Thanks for input I'm going to try gorilla glue and some gorilla epoxy icing lol. It just ticks me off that people cant be a little more careful.

When your car was produced, I believe Porsche was the most profitable auto maker in the world. It doesn't sit terribly well with me that most all 996 C4S and Turbo tail lights mounting flanges are broken. It's worse that buying a new pair of lights is over a thousand dollars, and they will crack just the same in short order.

nick49 you are correct. I'm sure it would have happened at some point but it was obvious they were over tightened and they were perfect before the dealer did his thing. I will get over it but I hate when things are cobbled back together.

If you know the dealer did it, why wouldn't you make them pay for it? Just curious.

Its been a month and I doubt they will own up to it. I sent a polite but direct e-mail to the service department yesterday so we will see. I have been happy enough with their work but never feel comfortable with anyone but myself touching my cars. I only take them somewhere when I do not have the equipment or I'm very lazy lol.

Just got off the phone the man was rude and of course told me his guy has been doing this for 17 years and has never broken a tail light tab and he has never had a complaint. He says he has to look at it which I understand but I tried to convey to him what was the point if they were going to deny or do some quick repair that I could do myself= he didn't get it. I will take it over this week and see what happens.

I used two part epoxy. The kind they use to glue golf club heads to shafts. It is great stuff, unbreakable and it comes in black.

Well after a little bit of heated talk on both sides the dealers manager said he wants to make it right and ordered two new taillights so I'm happy it will be taken care of.

Been through that on both tail lights. I trimmed some small nylon washers and epoxied them in place. That was almost three years ago. A whole lot cheaper and more durable than new tail lights.

Well they will be new but I'm sure at some point they will need repaired, at least they are back to pre dealer visit condition.
