From what I am reading in these posts, the coolant level should not go down after a proper fill and system pressure test. To fill the 911 cooling system you must use the proper tool to check for leaks check before it is filled using vacuum. Then it is filled with vacuum to insure all pockets are filled.

I have never had a cooling system level go down after a flush, refill, cooling system repair.

If you really want to do it right and not guess, then you need to purchase this tool...

+1 on the tool listed above

I purchased one when I needed to refill my system after engine removal.
Great tool, super easy to use and no problems afterwords.

Rory -
Like Macster said, these things happen.

I had a new water pump put on about a year ago. My coolant was low about a month ago, but there wasn't any drips on the garage floor, or coolant smells. Not until I got under the car did I notice there was dried coolant comming out from under the water pump pulley. It must have been leaking but was blown off while driving. Anyway, I just had it replaced under warranty; so even new stuff goes bad.

If it's the water pump, you'll know when it blows. Don't ask me how I know. Fortunately, I was half a block from my house.

It's all sorted now - water pump replaced... Car is so quiet now. There were plenty of other bits that needed replaced too but at least now I know the car is 100% now bar the tyres which ill need to address before it gets cold and slippery!

Had to move fast - had both front suspension arms replaced and drop links, about 20 clips and screws that were missing, coil packs and spark plugs (full major service) as well as brake lines being replaced and made corrosion proof. Car already was ridiculous but now even more so.

Next Question: I've been using autosol for some time now but the exhaust has tarnished / changed colour where the flow hits first - is there any way of removing this? Pic below.

But can I remove it? It's not oxidised like copper does - rather the heat has discoloured it - you can see where the hot exhaust gasses hit the muffler from the cats...

If it went "rainbowed" like titanium I wouldn't mind - just not a fan of the gold colour it goes.

I know those who get the same coloration after welding SS and use a diluted HCL solution ( hydrocloric acid then rinse.

You may want to try a polish called Flitz. I have used it on stock exhaust and it works pretty good. they are not cheap but are by far the best metal polish I have used. I use the Flitz polishpaste.
