Oil change on 996tt
What do other dealers charge for an oil change? I was quoted $250. I understand that with performance cars everything is more expensive...but it's an oil change...

You can do it yourself easily, but you need a huge receptacle to take the 9 quarts of oil that come out at laser speed. Your garage will have oil everywhere. Loosen the main oil release slowly and keep pressure on the hole so it come out slowly. Before that, I recommend using the "bleeder valve" replacement to the right plug. FVD has one.

About right is my experience, too.
For that the SM picks up my Turbo at my house and drives it back to the dealership.
In the service bay the oil/filter gets changed, the vital fluids checked and if any are low they are topped up and the fact they were low is notned on the service paperwork.
Brake pad thickness and rotor wear is noted on the paperwork too.
Tires are checked for tread depth and anything in the tires is noted as well. Since I have road hazard coverage if the tire is not deemed repairable I get a new tire, though if the tread depth difference between the tire on the other side and the new tire is > 30% I have to buy a new tire too so the tires have acceptable tread depth differences.
The car is checked for fluid leaks and other things.
The last time I had the Turbo in the driver's side rocker panel cover was found to have a big hole punched in it so I had this replaced.
Or sometimes I elect to have other work that is needed or due taken care of at the same time. Plugs. Transmission fluid. Last time had the RMS done. The next time the Boxster goes in it will get an A/C service. The A/C is not blowing as cold as it should.
The car is vacuumed and washed and returned to my house.
Given my work/personal schedule this is a bargain at $250.

The dealership prices are in the same range as other high priced makes. Mercedes A service runs about $300 and the B service is about $600. They are basically oil changes plus inspections.
