Default Dan Jacobs: Hairry Dog Garage

There are a great many indie repair shops that boast being German car mavens specializing in Porsche. Most of them, from my experience, are probably okay for an oil change but not much more. Servicing Porsche is best left to indies who deal with Porsche daily and truly know the cars well. One such guy, in Connecticut, is Dan Jacobs. His Hairry Dog Garage may be a little out of the way but when you arrive you’ll find at least thirty P cars there. Some were getting race ready, others were getting engine-out attention and others were waiting to be tuned. My 996tt was in good company.

If this sounds like a commercial forgive me but the guy replaced my
oil sending unit at half the stealer price and went out of his way to
accommodate me. His terrific reputation is well earned and I’m
delighted to toot my horn for him.

I used to live up in Newtown, CT when I owned my 964 C4. Dan is a great guy and I fully support your endorsement.

I like these kind of posts.

BTW - what did he charge you to replace the sender? I need to have it done also and my indy quoted $55 for the part and 2 hours of labor, so about $300 all in.

Just under $300 with tax. While he was in there he did various visual checks of other components including
the brakes, hoses, belts, exhaust, ball joints and suspension.

Very well known and respected Porsche shop over on the Racing/DE forum.

Another excellent one in New England is www.epe.com
Jerry Pellegrino is IMHO the best Porsche mechanic in Massachusetts
