Black Chrome Turbo Twists
Since owning my 996, I wanted to have the OEM Turbo Twist wheels re-finished as the previous owner had them curb-rashed. I kind of wanted something different than the run-of-the-mill silver, the color is "Black Chrome"

Looks great!! Painted or powder coated?
Hey, on my John Deere D100 lawn tractor, why would the service light be blinking at 7 hours after I did the oil change? Manual says it will blink for 1 hour - just coincidental that the first service is due at 8 hours so now I get the light?
I'm kidding - I'm sure you're job has nothing to do with this stuff.

Powder coat, I had it done at a local place, "Half Baked Powder Coating". My friend just finished a 1973 IROC 911 RSR clone that had a host of custom engine brackets, injector rails, intercooler mounts, valve covers...etc that needed to be powder coated so he had Half Baked do it. He was really happy with how things turned out and the price was very reasonable, so i thought i would give them a try as well.
As for the Deere mower; Sorry i can't help you there, I work in the Construction & Forestry Div. so your exposure to, and knowledge of our lawn equipment is probably more than mine. If you had a question about a backhoe, crawler, or log skidder I could get you an answer fairly quick.

I was worried about the color of the silver center caps clashing clashing with the new color of the wheels so i bought a roll of that faux carbon fiber wrap (3M) to see how they would look wrapped. It turned out pretty nice in my opinion, the black/silver weave compliments the black body of the car with the silver component of the weave being close to the wheel color.

The center caps. I just popped the crests off (they're just hot-melted on), wrapped the cap, cut away the wrap that would be under the crest, and then re-glued the crest.

I'd very much like to hear from a qualified metallurgical EXPERT on safety of powder coating aluminum wheels? I think these look great but I've heard that the heat associated with the powder coating process may compromise the strength of the aluminum.

Depends on which urban legend you believe..... "The heat involved in the powder coating is well below what would compromise the aluminum" OR "Powder coating will compromise the strength of the aluminum even at the ~400F temperature typically used for curing"

I have powder coated wheels 3 times now and they are fine. I think that's internet lore.
