Default DV's going bad

What are the signs of diverter valves going bad. I read about them a lot, but not sure what the symptoms are.

I'm not having any problems at all, but with 62K on the car I want to know what I should look for. Did all the plugs and coil packs at 60K.

Loss of power, sounds like a honking goose.

If you have 60k miles on them, replace. I did mine with the 30k service. Made a big difference in power.

710N from any Audi/VW parts place is the way to go.

There's definitely no honking, and the tires try to break loose under hard acceleration in 2nd, so power seems good.

But was considering a silicone hose kit. I'll replace the DVs while I'm doing that.

If they are going bad will you have low boost? Can we assume if boost is normal they are still OK?

As posted above 710s from VW/Audi work well. They're a little more money but the Forge Motorsport 007 or new 008 valves are also an excellent choice.

If they are bad you will have a boost leak. To test hook up a Mityvac hand pump and pull vacuum on them they should open and hold vacuum when applied to the vacuum hose fitting on the top.

As posted already you will know with the Geese-Honking sound AND reduction of boost.

I recommend that you pick up a set of 710N's.. They are now made by Kaiser. The failure rate on these valves compared to the stock valves is almost a non issue.

I sell them for $68.00 a valve..

Kevin,

If your stock DVs are still working, will the 710N's buy you anything other than peace of mind?

If you worry about it.. Replace them..

If they aren't broken run them... You will know when they fail!

Replaced mine at 60 w 710n. Installed Not too long after tune-up, so I can't say that I felt any difference b/f or after, but now I know exactly what I've got in there.

On my tt audis you could tell in turbo lag when they start to go. I upgraded to forge dvs when I was concerned. Honestly even though I have 10K miles thought about just doing it now.

Bailey DVs - lifetime warranty, bullet proof, no periodic maintenance. I've had them in my Turbo for over 10 years without a single issue.
