So,

If I do ditch the 19" Champion wheels...what would be a good, reasonably priced set of 18s to go with? I think taking the pain and making the switch NOW before I go any further with mods is going to have to be done...any good recommendations are a set to go with?

I am thinking about BBS wheels...18x8.5 front and 18x11 in the rear....will these match up with the OEM wheels sizes?

I run RG5's in 18. front is about 17 lbs, and rear is 19.5 lbs for an 11.5 inch rim. That is super light. Champion is a top tier forged rim, like a HRE, far surpassing a non forged BBS,Forgestar ect.

Your 19's should be worth a fair amount of money as they were $6k new. I would post them on 6speed, as that is a popular rim on 997 and 996 widebody. You should be able to research the last sale price as they come up about once a month.

Ive always modded my cars with rims/lowering but I happen to love the look of the turbo twists! Such a classy and timeless design.

The only rims id ever buy for mine are a set of BBS LM's. Really hot!

I agree. That's why my OEM original twists are still on my Turbo ; on for keeps.

I don't know if you've had the chance to drive beside a Turbo at speed, but IMO the twists look great when spinning. I realize that I can't directly appreciate the look of the twists when underway, but just knowing that look is out there when I'm driving brings enjoyment (and in some rare cases, when driving beside or passing the right kind of vehicle, I can actually see the twists in action). Of course I'm sure there are a fair number of people who get the chance to see the spinning twists, and pause to appreciate the look.

Lower budget.....Forgestar. Awesome wheel for the price, period.
Higher budget.....BBS or Champion.....classic performers
No budget......HRE or DPE .....sick!

Kevin...I haven't set a max yet, but am not wanting to dump $5K to $7K into an entire wheel/tire combo at this time---my 19s aren't THAT bad. If I come across a good deal I'll buy the wheels. I see a few people are pulling their 18s for a great price and may just buy those...unless you have something similar to an RG5 for a good price.

I'm going with the PSS10s so the ride height can be adjusted...if the 19s are too harsh then I can swap on the 18s and readjust the height. That is why I am not taking the gamble on fixed springs.

The wheels on my car were 3800 so if you include the tires that pretty much puts you over the 4600 range.

I guess I'm wondering why no one has suggested you look at stock GT2 wheels. You get the extra width, guaranteed proper offsets, light weight, strength, timeless classic looks, and you can powder coat em any color you want if the stock silver isn't to your taste. Just another data point to think about. Only downside is they are scarce/spendy to lay hands on.

Stock GT2 wheels are a solid spoke design that is strong but heavy.

Ever consider a 305/30 tire. I have no experience with them but read some guys like them.

Sport Technos are hollow AND a bit lighter that hollow twists, according to a thread posted on ALL OEM P-car wheels...

FWIW 235/40/18 and 305/30/18 are the GT2 tire sizes......225/40/18 & 295/30/18 for 996 Turbo
