My AD told me that I may or may not have a windshield from a 997 vs 996 and I may get a bad reception on the radio. But the car a late production 2005 turbo s they don't know if the windshield is original or not.

I just went through this with my wifes 2005 TT. Farmers zero deduatable windshield replacement. They recommended Safelite and so my local Porsche dealer.
Safelite had 2 options aftermarket glass and original, I had the choice and Farmers did not care which. We went original glass from somewhere in Europe, took 5 working days to get it. Also installed rain sensor. Total to Farmers was $1,100 installed with new seals and moulding,

I went with Safelite aftermarket glass for my 335. Rain sensor and mirror electronics were in the glass. I couldn't tell any difference between it and the OEM it replaced.

I've always stuck with OEM. If they're going to let you choose, why would you let them but in aftermarket?Originally Posted by fly2low
also safelite, but had them put in original in a 335D. Much cheaper, original glass, and no leak - what else do you need?
Make sure that the installer has done Porsches before. I had a bad experience in my Boxster, as the windshield installer broke the GPS antenna for the nav system (lives in the window frame). I had to have it repaired by the dealer.
