New turbo owner, I thought I'd introduce myself.

Very nice! Phoenix is a love it or hate it color...I've always been on the fence.
I sold my WRX with the idea of buying a 996TT, and am now DDing my garage queen E36 until I can find the right opportunity to jump on. I used to work at Rogue, so have plenty of seat time in E46s!

Thanks again for all the kind words. Getting clear bra next week. Got the car from a pawn shop in Vegas I am in the bussines sometimes you newer know what you going to get I could not pass it up. . I took the car to my local dealer (Stevenson) must give them a plug they were pretty awsome did a 30k service and new tires otherwise the car is very good may or may not need a clutch after about 10k miles. But the car is not a daily driver just for fun and o boy it's allot of fun. Next upgrade for me is probably bilstein pss10 kit and after...

congrats on the pickup! i hated the 3m clear bra stuff. it peels too. why do you feel it may need a clutch in 10k? it sure should last longer than that, if you've just done a 30k service, then the clutch should be fine.

best thing to do.. is to stay off the clutch and on the power. i think the stock clutch can last over 100k even 200k+ easy, as long as properly (un) used. enjoy it! you may find you can simply release the clutch from a standstill at idle and drive without slippage. i have, and do. in fact, if you even need the clutch beyond engaging a gear and shifting, it's not being used properly. i'm not sure what you mean about "i need to rev it up at times". but i can share this: if it "revs" while in gear under load, and you are not pressing on the clutch pedal?! replace the clutch now. don't bother to wait that "10k" mile figure as optimistically assessed by your "tech". again, GL either way.

cool. i would. remember. honest and knowledgeable techs may also be difficult to find, depending upon your geography. don't know where you are but smaller towns means less turbos! a good tech is as important to the ownership of these cars as is the driving style and maintenance. you can drive the dogsh*t out of them every day, but you've got to maintain them.
you're right to ask questions ( we all do! ). my best advice for you is to also find a tech that has better cars than yours at their shop.

Totally agree with you. I did meet few good guys at stevenson Porsche also just did a 30k miles service. Met someone from the forum that is a good guy his name is porshespeeddemon. As my lawyer always says its a slow process :-). But I am getting there.
Thanks again Alex.
