Default front license plate

this weekend, while driving across the state of WA, got stopped twice to chat about the absense of a front license plate.
Just ordered my vinyl decal plate to attach to the bumper. Cost $70.
If anyone is interested, I can post pics when I get it

I'm sure it depends on your state's laws, but is a decal enough to satisfy the police?

In British Columbia you are required to have the actual plate, no decals. I'd check Washington law to if it's similar wording or if it allows a "facsimile" plate. Unless it specifically allows it I'd say Washington and BC's laws are similar.

Only the rear plate required in Arizona. In fact the DMV only gives you a rear plate unless you go with a personalized plate, when they provide a front and rear.

I don't use a front plate in Illinois although it's required. Generally the police won't pull you over just for no plate unless they want to check for drinking/driving. It's never been a problem around here - the Police probably have more important things to do.

1. Your old post has an "edit" button that allows you to correct the post...although it does disappear in like 24 hrs (or some time limit)

2. A facsimile may be enough that they dont notice it and pull you over to begin with. I have a temp tag on the windshield of one car- and aq Wisconsin inspection sticker on the front of another. No tickets (for plates) in 8 years.

+1 in OH. I've gotten 3 tickets over the last 15 years for it. At 40 bux a piece, I figure it's the price I have to pay not to clutter up the front end of my cars.

Santa Barbara actually hires people to walk the public parking lots/structures and issue these tickets on parked cars! At $75/ticket, I can only imagine the revenue this generates over the Summer alone. Helluva tax to levy on people coming to spend money in their city.

I'm in Socal and front plates are heavily enforced at the airports and public beaches. I don't remember what the fine was but I do remember if I fixed it within X days, it was cheaper. I also remember every so often the Sheriff would roll in and give tickets for expired tags, no front plate, or tinted windows while parked in my high school parking lot.

I don't run with front plates and have been lucky so far. Where were you stopped; I5, 405 hopefully not I90?

Could you provide information on the stick-on front plate if you it works?
