Default 996tt x50 vs 997 gt3

I haven't driven a 997 gt3 so I was hoping there's someone out there who has and can share their thoughts. I'm thinking of keeping my x50 for a few years and then trade it in for a 997 gt3 when it dips in the high $40k range. i guess i want something that's lighter, more noise, and a more linear power delivery. im hoping the shifter the gt3 is much more precise. i'm guessing the power to weight ratios are somewhat close.

I am all about 911 turbos, however, I would take the 997 gt3 over an x50 any day

Buy a 997 GT3 shifter and an exhaust.

^the steering and response is superior in the 997gt3. throttle response as well, zero lag being a NA motor

^ I believe I'd take the 997Gt3 over the X50. I have a 6GT3 and a 996X50 with UMW flash.

We call the GT3 the "quick" car - everything happens quicker, the 996X50 we call the the "fast" car - it's bloody fast. The 996 is faster but heavier feeling with a more pliable ride.

I think you deserve both.

The GT3 is a race car for the street, much more raw than the TT. How do you drive your car, mostly street or track? The GT3 is a track car, plain and simple. The TT is really more of a GT car out of the box without suspension tweaks. Not to say you cannot drive a GT3 on the street but it would get old if you drive much in a city in my opinion.

I have a hard time agreeing with that. I had a 997 GT3 that was an excellent daily driver and was very comfortable, the RS is a little more brutal for the street.

mostly street as a weekend car. i agree with the TT as more of a GT car. i would figure the gt3 RS was more of a track car and the regular gt3 was somewhere in the middle.; something like a track car for the street. i think of the gt3 RS as track car that happens to be street legal.

No low-end torque in the GT3. If you love to live with the engine wound up like a top to get any performance you'll like the GT3.

I would be very surprised to see a 997 GT3 in the high $40K range anytime soon.

Given the OP's stated goals, I suggested buying a GT3 shifter and exhaust because ltc is right, not going to see a 7GT3 in the 40s anytime soon.

Alternatively, a 6GT3 might be had for high 40s now.

Or...

Get a 6TTx50, put in the SSK, Clutch Spring Mod, LWFW, PSS*'s, UMW tune and pull the front shaft to make it RWD and then you may really have something.

Is you don't like the RWD change it and you still have a great car for $50k if you shop right.

Just a thought.

If you know bikes the X50 is like a Ducati, probably like a 996/998. The GT3 is more like a Triumph Street Triple.

Ducati to Ducati it would be 996/998 vs. 848/748.
