Default EVO shift linkage- yay or nay?

Found some negative reviews in other areas of Rennlist, issues with binding?

What's the general consensus here?

I want to do either the EVO linkage, or a new OE part when I have my 997 GT3 shifter installed (so I'm not stranded on the side of the road with a broken linkage)

I've never had any issue at all with mine.

That seems to be the general consensus. The complaint posts I found were a few years old, so it's possible they've revised it since then.

I've broken 2 -- one last year and the latest last week. Just ordered the EVO linkage...

Wow, old thread bump.

The 997.2 GT3 shifter console I bought has the updated 997 part, which is more substantial.

So, I ended up not installing the EVO link (I also didn't like the way you have to screw the shifter onto the shifter cable threads).

Yeah I did a search and came across this. Both times the connector broke I was stuck in a gear (2nd and then 3rd) I could at least get to a safe place, but frustrating.

I agree with the threading approach. From what I read that can be a source of problems too. Someone mentioned notchy shifts also after install (not sure why) so I am a bit amprehensive - being being stuck in a gear with my 4 year old isn't something I want to do a third time (and I don't think her turning 5 is the right solution )

So the shifter console (997 shifter) actually can solve the connector issue?

The new console comes with a new linkage, so yes.

I suppose the updated 997 link could break, but I trust the factory part over the EVO link personally.

That's good to know. I'll ask the mechanic about that. Thanks!

Mine just broke on the last track day and the car had to be towed back.... I ended up getting the 997 GT3 shifter console+evoms shifter linkage. At the end of the day, aluminum is going to out last plastic.... I don't want to deal with it again.... The overall feel of shifter is definitely better then stock. I can't pinpoint which is responsible but overall I think it is a good upgrade

I had a Numeric shifter installed a few weeks ago. Got rid of all the plastic. One of the best mods I have done.
