I have sold my 997 05 c2s and am drawn to the 996 tt. There seems to be good examples out there with 40's being the price for a low mileage car. These cars cost 180k tax in when new in Toronto. I have read the threads about what to check for, but please confirm if IMS is an issue for these model years. Any thoughts about bang for your buck welcome. I don't want to spend 80k or so for an 07 although i assume the incremental improvements are justified? I think mid 40s with the proper due diligence could yield a lot car of for the money? Thanks

I'd have to group handling and acceleration under performance.
As for "performance", this is stopwatch and tape measure stuff and is objective data. You should be able to look up what various sports cars have done in terms of objective data and go from there. In terms of trying to apply some kind of "dollar-to-objective performance-data" formula to the objective data, I'd be at a loss to help you as I don't judge a car in those terms.
As for subjective assessments, I'd have to know what cars you are comparing the 996 Turbo to before offering any feedback in terms of steering feel, brake feel, accelerator feel, shifter feel, seat comfort and stability offered the driver, sight lines from the driver's seat, how each control is individually weighted, how the controls are weighted relative to each other when considered as a whole, interior and exterior looks, and exclusivity. Just like the objective data, I'm also at a loss to qualify the subjective assessments based on a "dollar-to-subjective opinion" formula.

No IMS issues. The 996tt is a great value. IMO. As for performance, a $1000 tune will yield HP and Torque numbers very close to a 997tt. As for the other 997 improvements only you can decide what they are worth to you.
