WTB 2002 Turbo S with X-50 kit
Hey all:
I am visiting from the 964 forum.
Hoping to sell my 964 in the next few weeks and purchase a 2002 Turbo S coupe with the X-50 package. Car is black/black has 25,000 miles and is a 10 in every respect. The seller is a friend of mine and the car has been maintained at the same shop I use. What is a fair purchase price?

No PCCB, 6-speed manual. Loaded, no nav. He has window sticker which places it in $115k (if memory serves).
relectantly, I think you are correct about the "S" badging... not thrilled about special badging.

X50 is worth a few thousand above market, and for a nice 996tt in our area you are looking about $50k. MGMSL has a handful of K16 cars for 55k+ that sell regularly.
I would still get a complete PPI. I suggest Steinel's.

If the seller was a true friend I would think that he would have told you the "S" was a poser badge. Otherwise, 2002 X50 with 25K miles - I'd say $45K private party sale. Black is beautiful, but a total PITA maintain.
(Check under the hood to make sure it has X50 as an option - hard to believe if MSRP was only $115 - that would be a low option car. I think X50 was a $17K option)

No way is a x50 @ $115,000 . .
If Eric is good with it, you will be fine!
If it was a MGMSL in Jan - March of '09 I drove it, nice car.
Just an FYI, unless you are getting a sweetheart deal, drive a K16 car as well. I hated the lag of the X50 (K24)....... A flash or a 18g will cure it and then some.
Good Luck!

I have a 2005 Turbo S, with europipe and built in radar 60k miles maintained by Mike Bavaro in NJ. Engine was replaced by factory 5k miles ago (40k) that I would sell for 60k - silver w/ black interior - bottom line I think 50k is high for an '02

Rac968 - What happened to your motor? I've got the same year too.

A bolt inside the engine severed and ruined the cylinders. It was pretty annoying considering I thought the F1 block didn't suffer from these types of issues - IMS and RMS effecting 996 & 997 non turbo's - I also think people don't realize you need to warm these cars up for 20 mid before going above 3k RPM or all the different metals in the engine will not be properly warm
