I sure could use some input on my dilemma,
We currently have a 996 Targa, 944Turbo S and a built 65 Mustang.
I'm selling my 65 Tiger and want to get a more modern car so I've been
looking at the 993tt, 996tt and a Boss 302 L/S
It seems the 996tt at around the $50's for a nice one are a good value compared to the 993, although I know that's the last of the air cooled. The Boss 302(also $50's) has some pretty nice reviews and I know it's not a Porsche but it a good old V/8 muscle car that handles pretty good... But it still looks like a everyday Mustang except for the paint. OK as you can see I'm a very confused person any help is appreciated.
Also I've read the 2001 Turbos are more problematic than newer ones , any advice there?
Thanks to all in advance!!

I love my 911TTCab but I do too want a muscle car but I am not giving up the 911 for it. I love the old muscle cars that they are now rebuilding into a “Pro Touring” class car and you can get a twin turbo! 900HP+! Sick…

I was shopping between a Shelby GT500KR and modded 996TT, drove them back to back and it was a no brainer.
The turbo was fast as hell, and the GT500 was well not so much. At the end of the day the Mustang is just an expensive Mustang, they all look the same and there are tons of them on the road.
I still like the Boss 302 and have wanted one since high school though.

You already have a 996, so I say go with the Boss. It'll probably hold it's value pretty well too. I for one say that the Boss 302 Laguna Seca is America's GT3 RS.

LS edition has had great reviews.
Prior to my 02 Turbo, I had a string of mustangs (Roush, Shelby, etc.). The level of performance from the mustang is not really even close to the turbo on track or on the street. The V8 rumble was pretty sweet though. The 996 turbo is very quiet in comparison.
Also, you're talking about a 10 year old car v. a brand new car. Take a look at some of the threads concerning common issues with the turbo. While they seem to be minor, the costs can be high in relation to the value of the car. I just had a bunch of CPO warranty work done, and had it been out of pocket, it would have cost me > $5K. (Not sure if you can get a CPO for an 01-03 cars now.) You wouldn't have to worry about such issues with a new car.
If I had a 996 in the garage, and was going to buy another sports car, I would probably go for the LS.

The 996 Targa we have is my wifes and it's a Tip, I'm an old stick guy.
Good point on the warrenty, if I go with one that has a CPO it will probably be allot more than in the $50's
