Default HELP!!! Quick read!

Hi all,
SO i just put on two new rear tires (rears only) on my 02 TT with 550 RUF pacakage. After picking up the car I noticed the rear end felt mushy when going side to side kinda small slalom down the road then when I took a exit ramp quickly my traction control kicked in! and from there I forced the car into a few quick turns and TC kicks in everytime>>>also its almost as if I turn the steering wheel an inch then theres a delay then the car changes lanes! Anyone have any input? Currently I now have 50-60% worn michellin PS2s on the front and the new nitto Envo on the rear 325/15 19R. Is this a matter of I should have replace all the rubber?

Any input apprecitated!!

1) mixing different rubber (worn/new or different makes) is bad for several reasons - particularly if you now have different tall ratio front/rear 2) check your rear tire pressures (not too low or too high). Changing direction delay - points to alignment issue - not sure if anything was changed (such as toe in rear or sways added/stiffened) as part of the "package".

What are your front and rear sizes. The rear size you listed does not make sense to me. Is it a 335/25? You can also go to Tirerack and check the exact diameter of each tire to see how far off you are.

The tires may have to be broken in prior to "testing". There are mold release compound that makes a tire slick right after installation also. Just a point.

If you changed your rear sizes you may have a f/r diameter issue which will cause the the PSM to do squirelly things. Also not good for the front diff.

19" diameters on the 996 can be tricky to match.

SST is right. Frt and Rear tire diameter differences will cause the PSM to kick on. Clearly this is the problem as it occurred right after replacing your rear tires. kenny

I had the same PSM problem with my 19" rims. 235/35/19 fronts and 325/25/19 rears. No problems until I put new tires of a different brand on rear only (easliy within the allowable diameter range). Only solution for me was 4 new tires of same brand (same sizes as above) and voila, no more problem.

There can be slight dimensional differences in the same tire sizes from different manufacturers.

Mixing tire brands is a real crap shoot. Sometimes it works OK, sometimes its downright dangerous. Did you also change sizes?

"Help Quick read" and the OP is gone....

What size tire did you buy????? Cannot find a "325/15-19"

What size did you replace?

Finally, what size is on the front?

Hey so thanks all for the replys, I went back and ordered two new fronts to complete the set and have all brand new tires....AND problem fixed!!! Car handles like a dream! love the Nitto Envos!!!! best tire I have had in a while.

Bsically when I originally put new rears on and left the old Michellin PS2s hockey pucks on the front I think I was gettig the combination of slippage in the corners as well worn different diameter tires and this caused the TC to kick in...SCARY!

But for those with 19'' tires wondering what tires to buy next...I say bang for your buck nitto envos....very sticky and very predictable>>>>They look kinda bad A$$ with there tread design too

My Tires are 315/25 ZR 19 and front 235-35- ZR 19

I'm glad to hear that matching tires all around fixed your problem. BTW, I also use 315x25x19 tires on the rear, but I use 255x30x19 on the front... Pretty close to the same rolling diameter as your 235x35x19, but quite a bit wider. I use Toyo Proxies T1R. A decent tire for the price.
