Well, if the stock turbos or oil pipes are needing replacement I'd stick with the stock items.

But others have gone over to aftermarket turbos and bigger turbos though this can make the turbo R&R job a bit more work as other things can require upgrading as well to realize the full potential of the larger turbos.

I'm sure those that have gone the aftermarket route will chip in as soon as they finish reading the oil debate posts...

Sincerely,

Macster.

Don't know why you haven't received more responses. Usually those with aftermarket setups are only to happy to join in with recomendations.

I have no experience with any aftermarket Turbo engine kits of any kind but I searched and found this link for after market turbos for the 996 Turbo.

My providing this link is not a recommendation for this company's line of products. It is only intended to perhaps provide you with some useful info.

Sincerely,

Macster.

There are lots of solutions available from EPL, UMW, 911 Tuning, Vivid Racing, EVOMS, AWE as mentioned by Macster, and several others. You can go with stock K16's from the 996 turbo, stock K24's from the X50 kit, and a number of hybrid combinations.

So... you have to first decide what you are looking for. Stock performance? More horsepower - if so how much more: 50, 100, 150, 200, 250... These are all possible, depending on what you choose. Then you need to call the various sources and discuss your application, your desires, your budget and your tolerance for risk.

Most of the people with modded engines did exactly that. And because of our different answers to the questions in the last paragraph, we made different choices. I'm happy with my setup (UMW Stage 2A) for my application, which is DE's on road courses, but still driven on the street. Lots of other guys on here are happy with their choices as well, and different from mine.

I don't understand the significance of 'sending it to Houston for pricing'... are you in Mongolia? or near Houston? or do you have a favorite tuner in Houston?

And what is wrong with your current turbos?? Who has given you the diagnosis?

There is no turbo upgrade that does not ALSO require programming changes... what are your HP and driving goals? and your budget?

As others have said, you first need to ask yourself:

1. Goals (hp and use, DD v/s track?)
2. Budget (as they say: "speed costs, how fa$t do you want to go?")

I went with Kevin's (UMW) stage 2A's as well. He's the real deal.
Good luck with your project.
