996 C4S vs 996 TT as daily driver?

Thanks to all for the very useful replies! Test drove an amazing 01 tt today (<40 k miles, all stock, clean carfax) that I really need to adopt. If maintenance and PPI check out, this could be the beginning of a wonderful friendship.
I know from reading the RL that pictures are mandatory, so as soon as --hopefully- purchased, will post.

Here's what you can do with your C4S when the IMS bearing fails-

Used both of them as DD's. IMS blow up may be an insignificant % as someone said above but my experience is 1 for 1. Luckily the C4S was under CPO warranty. Dealer invoice to Porsche for a remanned engine was $23k CDN installed.
The turbo replaced the C4S shortly after the remanned engine was installed. I drove the C4S for 2 years and the turbo for one year now. Turbo has been very reliable. All I've had to do to it other than normal maintenance was replace the power steering pump ( a common problem ). Go turbo. Much better engine and more reliable in my experience. The power is also a hoot. Gas mileage on the turbo isn't very good but if you want good gas mileage, get a Prius

Receiver - you know i am not really disappointed by the gas mileage. In fact when I first got the tt, I thought geez more stops at the pump, yet i noticed you keep your foot out of it and just cruise, on the hwy at 75 I get between 26 to 27mpg depending on the day and grade of the road.

Interesting comments on the TT gas mileage. I'm averaging a little over 18mpg in the two months I have owned it, and at 75 on the highway I get about 26mpg. My highway/city mix has been about 25/75. I don't dog it all the time, but I do take every opportunity to push it a little when conditions allow.
I didn't care about the gas mileage when I bought it, but it has been a pleasant surprise.

I'm not sure how some of you are getting 26/27 mpg on the hwy. The EPA rates the 996tt as 13/20 mpg for city/hwy. In my experience, it is difficult to beat the EPA ratings. I'm happy if I get better than 12 mpg in mine.

Interesting...I had both as daily drivers too.
2002 C4S - Great car but lost an engine to IMS at 19k. Drove 2yrs
2003 TT- Ran for 2 yrs as a DD now a garage queen, no issues
If I had to do it again i'd skip the C4S
Gas mileage...buy a Honda Civic

Is your's flashed? I noticed an increase in MPG with my flash. I get 18-19 around town and 23-26 HWY. So much depends on your right foot though. I can easily average 5 mpg if I wanted to.
