Buzz
Is this the same Buzz as the Buzz posting under "buzzmasters", or is it just a coincident that you're both named Buzz and are both from Missouri?

No big deal, just wondering.

Yes, it is the same Buzz...didn't realize I had registered on Rennlist twice, once with my home computer, and once with my laptop on the road several months ago when I couldn't remember the login.

Also, PAULUNM, I tried your recommendation of going to neutral while in the RPM band where I have been having the problem, and the noise went away....Indicating that it is most likely the exhaust.

Thanks again for the inputs.

With a Mud Hen and a T-Bird avatar, 737 in your second name (another aviation connection), "Buzz" in both names, and both from Missouri, I figured the circle was complete.

Mud Hen and T-Birds are Air Force... F-15E and F-16, so probably not Blue Angels...

There was a Buzz Masters who flew with the Thunderbirds back in the 80's. Is that you?

Dock -

Yes, I flew with the Thunderbirds in 1985-86, now an airline pilot and enjoying the engineering of these Porsches. Probably no coincidence that I like F-16/F-15 gray (otherwise known as seal gray)! These are phenomenal cars....this weekend will be the first time I have tracked a turbo, and I'm really looking forward to it. Previously had an '04 BMW M3 and before that an '03 Boxster S....this will be a big step up and a big thrill. I only have about 20 track days under my belt, so still a relative newbie. Hope you are enjoying yours as much. Are you prior Air Force?

Holy crap! You probably know my father (1992 hon. Thunderbird). Serving several stints at Nellis commanding the 57TFW and years before, the 4450TG. I'll PM you offline.

ps. my current vanity plate is a tribute to my father and his last jet/tail number

Dock -- nice Eagle pic! Yes, we probably know at least 50 of the same folks....

Dell -- Yes, knew your father (as 'Sir' !!! since I was a major at the time)....great guy, outstanding leader, great stick, well-respected by all that worked for him....thanks for the update.

falcon7x7 -- big watch and small xxxx here! We compensate how we can....
(actually, I wear a $35 Timex digital watch because I am 1) cheap, and 2) it gets me through airport security...but at least it doesn't have a nerdy calculator function like my old ones did! ....small xxxx still applies)

.........sorry I caused all the thread creep, but its amazing how interconnected this group is! .....and how we all focused on the same high quality/high reliability/well-engineered/relatively affordable supercar. Now if I can just improve my heel-and-toe technique and avoid my tendency toward throttle-lift oversteer, maybe I can keep up with some of you hot-shoes at the track.....

Cheers,

Buzz

First time I saw the Thunderbirds was at Patrick Airforce base Melbourne BEadch Fla in 1972. Since then have seen them many times. But nothing has compared to the 1971 show. I guess since a few accidents, they backed off a little. Still enjoy them but what they did in 71 was unreal!

Buzz....what a small world! Heck, we have probably even met. I spent a ton of time on the flight line growing up and lost track of the number of airshows I have watched. It sucked when he was always on the road but there was nothing better when he would get home from a Thunderbird show and tell me what "insert city here" the local hospitality was like. I lived vicariously through him and wanted to follow in his footsteps but just couldn't get past the fact that I would have had to be in the USAF to actually be a pilot. There are great things about the military and there are some really troubling and bad memories that come with it. But I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Needless to say, my Dad was my best friend and somebody I was very proud of and always amazed by his accomplishments. Thank you for the kind words about him. It truly means the world to me. I just wish he was still around
