Default removing front differential under tray

I just finished flush and fill the transmission fluid. I was about to flush and fill the front differential.

I got into a small problem. I went underneath the car and unscrew the 4 10MM plastic bolts and could not remove the front differential under tray. I did noticed seeing the 5 Rectangle Metal Clips that holding the under tray to the car. After trying to ply them out, I could not do it. I would like to know how to remove these 5 rectangle metal clips?

Appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you and have a happy holiday!

Locate a couple of wide blade screw drivers at one end of the clip or the other and face them in towards one another underneath the end you've chosen (they're both the same). Just rotate the large blades and with enough pressure that end will pop free. They're spring steel and just pop back into place when u reinstall.

Hi Dell and Accel:

Thank you for your suggestion and offer.

I finally got it out! =)

I just looking at the differntial and I cant seem to locate the fill plug. As for the drain plug, I am not sure if this is the one. I am attaching the picture to get your guys suggestion. Please confirm if the picture is in fact a drain plug. I thought the drain plug will be using the same type of bolt as the Transmission Pluf (10MM Allen Key)

Could you also kindly suggest where is the fill plug locate?

Thank you very much inadvance!

That is the drain plug you have pictured. The fill is on the passenger side at 3 o-clock (if the front of the car is 12 and the drain is at 6) up by the axle and will require a little contortionism and small hands to get at it. I'll see if I took some pics at the last flush and fill and I'll post them up.

edit....added a pic of the draining. I'm still searching for a pic of the fill. (IIRC the fill is just fore of the axle at the diff case)

That't it!

It's times like these when a lift comes in VERY handy! Looks like you might have enough room in your garage?

Hi Dell:

Thanks again for all the info. Finally got everything done. I guess the previous owner never have the fluid change. The fill plug was super tight which I had a hard time untight it due to the fact that I work on a very tight space. After cursing, and swearing, the damn thing finally budge.

The old fluid was pretty bad. The oil is not dark, but kinda milky yellow.

After finish filling up the transmission fluid (about almost 2 quart) I decided to adjust the parking break. I have to pull almost 8 clicks to hold the car. Couldnt find the tighten screw. Any idea where I can find the screw so I can tight the hand break?

Thanks again

The adjustment screw is under the rear center console. It's a simple adjustment once you get the center console removed. If you have never taken the center console out let me know and I'll highlight where all the hidden screws are. If you have taken it out before then you know it's a 5 minute job

Thanks Dell. I took the center console out before and it is an easy job.

I took the rear wheel off and spending a pretty long time to search for the screw though the bolt hole...lol

I will try and do this on Sunday.

Thanks again. Hope ypou had a wonderful Crhistmas!!
