2003 996 Turbo Viscous Coupling Removal
Has anyone removed the viscous coupling driveline between the transmission PTO and the front differential?
Mine is worn out and I just want to remove it for a week and pull the part number off it so I can order a new viscous coupling. I've heard it's only held on by three bolts at the transmission pto but not sure about the front diff.
Can I simply leave this front viscous drive shaft removed for a week and drive around with no problems until my new unit arrives?
I'm pulling the belly panels off now so I can get a better look but any advise would be great. I'll check back here in about an hour to see if anyone has any input.
Also does anyone know if you can put the 997 turbo viscous coupling in a 996 turbo or are the parts completely different. Just wondering if the 997.1 turbo part is any more robust, etc.
Thanks!
