Hard to tell but is that a modified direct wire kit with alligator clips or something on the end? Hard to tell from the pics.

They are long thin rigid test probe pins, soldered to the end of the cable.
They are forced into the back of the connector that has (switched) 12VDC power.

If you have ever purchased a handheld DMM, you can buy similar leads.

My only concern is the mechanical retention over time and vibration, but some tape should fix that I guess.

I have a better idea,
Get 12v at the overhead console. Use the 12v wire from escort, whoever, and lead out to the pass visor.
clip it on the pass visor.

If your detector uses standard phone cords like a lot do now days, just buy the Valentine kit and install it behind the roof light, run the cable out by the mirror and install the detector up high on the windshield...no cords.
