I own a 2005 996 TTS, and after reading many suspension threads, and seriously considering the OEM X73 option. I've priced them booth at Suncoast and Carnewall, essentially the same. I'll also probably see what my local dealer can do if I purchase from them and have them install. Any other thoughts and suggestions for better pricing? Thanks.

What is the intended use of the car?

Hi Mike, you've responded to my posts before. Mainly road, daily driver use (as much as possible here in Minnesota). Having read lots of threads, I realize that it will stiffen the ride, but judging from the posts I've read, not so much as to make road use unpleasant. Also, it seems to be a good way using Porsche parts to lower the car from the US to ROW ride height. I know that the X73 is not adjustable, but I don't see that as a huge liability (for me, at least) as I wouldn't anticipate using that option. I would keep the original parts for the use of a future owner if stock was wanted.
Any further insights are much appreciated.

How is the road quality where you live? X73 can be a fairly stiff ride if the road is not fairly smooth.
I enjoy having X73 on my Turbo as it (in my opinion) elevates the car to a more proper sports car experience...harder edged, better handling, more planted at speed, and a lower ride height. I don't track my Turbo, so the non-adjustability of X73 is not a big deal.

Roads here are pretty good once the potholes are filled in the Spring. I think I read some of your posts when I searched X73. Thanks for the info. Did yours come with your car or did you purchase it, and if so, where?

I bought my Turbo new, and as you probably know, X73 was not (never has been) on the U.S. options list. So my Turbo came with the standard U.S. suspension.
I bought my X73 from Carnewal because (if my memory serves me correctly) it was not available from any U.S. source at the time I was considering the purchase, as it had just been released as an option in Europe.

Suncoast has the "kit" for $2549. My guess is a shop is going to charge you one hour labor for the motor mounts, and at least 6 hours labor plus an alignment for the four corners to be installed... I'd expect about $1000 in total labor. A few guys have gone this route and been happy with the results.

Well, for $1900-$2500 I would probably go with some street level H&R or Bilstein coilovers. You may never adjust them once they are set up, but you will get better handling and the ride height you want for around the same price if not less. That is a pretty steep price for a spring/shock setup IMHO. OEM or not. Different strokes though. Good luck ; )
