Cab TT: a benefit or negative?
I was going to add this question to my last post, but figured some cab owners might miss it.
I do not see a big price increase in the used market for cabs? Why is this? Is it that the cabs are not seen as value added because of weight/handling/non-trackability?
I thought Cab TT's were made in limited quantities?
Or is it that the serious TT owner would not upset the car with a cab?
I certainly would be interest in a Cab (best of all worlds), even at the cost of one-tenth of a second, etc., unless there are bigger negatives that I am unaware of.
Also, does anyone know the first year of the Cab TT 996?
Thanks,
Todd

2004 First tt Cab.
Cabs are heavier and can't be raced w/o a top.
In 40 years, the cab will be worth way more than a HT. To coin a favorite BJ saying, " The price goes up when the top goes down."

The plus for the cab is if you like the open sky. The negative is it kills the line of the car, plus it will eventually need to be replaced. I've had 3 soft tops but they weren't Porsche. Never again.

They can't get the lines of a cab to match the look of the coupe.
Now, if they made a proper Turbo Targa (not the wet sump 997 Targa variant)....I'd be in the showroom in a flash...I really enjoy my wife's 993 Targa.

8 years with a Boxster and 7 with a 996 Cab, it's the only way as far as I'm concerned. I'm looking for a TT now and it hopefully will be a cab. If not maybe a C4S Cab. Top down adds a whole different dimension to the P-Car experience. My brother had an Aero Coupe and a C4S coupe and they were beautiful cars, but even he admits the ride/driving experience can't compare with the cab. My wife always bitches about the cold and wind, but she even admits the Coupe is just another car and if I get a TTit definately should be a Cab.

I have a TT S cab and I love it coming from a 997 S. The only way I would go back to a coupe is if it was a GT2 or 3. Hard to beat top down driving in a turbo with 575 AWHP. I have had my car over 180 mph with the top down and it's very stable. This is my 1st vert and I think I'll keep this car forever and just keep building the power in it.

It is not just a simple answer....with a yes or no.
I always thought that Convertible cars were only for show off people....
until I drove one in the afternoon near by the sea with a very warm weather....
then I bought one....
and few months later I had the opportunity to drive that car with dropped roof in the snow....
totally amazing feeling...
I would go for the convertible...
( to be more precise my current cars are a 996 TT 2001 coupe and and MB SLK 200K - the next will be 997 TT cab ....)

I would not consider a coupe having been without a convertible !

The reality is that the coupe looks better, handles better (stiffer), weighs less, and cost less (when new), but the one benefit of the cab being that you can drive with the top down makes up for all of that.
